London 2012

Teddy Riner could have been a very intimidating lock. He already has a pretty good rucking technique.

One of my mates' dad is a tour manager who deals with some pretty big acts. There have been a few times where he answered to the phone to Meatloaf and such looking for his pop. Anyway, the ******* got a job working as a steward at the women's beach volleyball. Bah.

Have to say the BBC's bias has been unbelievable.

I'm out of the country and only have an ipod so can someone explain the story with Myrphy at the moment?

What do you expect? They're hardly going to so focus on say a Kiwi silver if we've won gold. Every single countries media will give their athletes more billing and if they don't they should

It's not like the rugby where all the countries compete, this is when we compete as one. So I expect the same complaint next year when the BBC, Sky, RTE or whoever show bias in the Lions favour.

Here's the hint, what does BBC stand for?

All RTÉ does is show Irish competitors, can't have a go at the British for doing the same thing.

I fully expect the a county to give it's own athletes top billing but there's a level where it becomes ridiculous and the lack of respect for other countries athletes is unbearable. Rebecca Adlingtons race today in particular I'd have considered the commentary embarassing if it was Irish.

Also if someone is thinking of making a comment saying I'm anti GB I'm not. Apart obviously from Irish competitors and people like Phelps I'm not predisposed one way or the other. I want to see the best breaking records. For example I'm quite happy to see Ennis do well but I dislike all the hyperbole going her way.

I used to have a BBC computer. It was awesome. I feel old now.

Anyways.... A great day at the Olympics for New Zealand - two golds within the space of an hour, and a bronze in the men's team pursuit later on. A couple of outside chances for more New Zealand medals in the rowing again tonight (NZT). I'm really enjoying looking at the medal table at the moment - especially as we currently have two more golds than Australia ;)

I'm not talking about who they're showing and at times I get pretty annoyed about some of our own bias on RTE and it is different the BBC are the official channell of the games and are broadcast the world over.

I'll give you that one, the commentating and punditry on that race was a bit OTT in our favour, they hardly talked about the amazing swim that won that race, they backpedaled after twitter went a bit mad, as usual.

I dunno, I think the BBC commentating is pretty good.
Only time I've thought the bias was OTT was during the diving when they were basically spaffing everytime Daley
was on the screen and just like "yep....good dive..." to everyone else.

Good day at the Velodrome for Team GB though, and Ennis going well in the heptathlon, with a slim lead going in to the second day. Shame that Adlington didn't get the gold, however her post-race interview was quality - saying how it's insane that people consider a silver/bronze a failure. Out of all the swimmers in the world competing in the 800m she's the 3rd best, and that's a bloody achievement, regardless of whether she didn't win the race outright.

Women's Triathlon tomorrow, which I'm really looking forward to - Hopefully Jenkins can get the gold.

Forgot that was on so soon. I will certainly be watching it, as Andrea Hewitt has a very good chance of getting a medal here (It may well come down to Jenkins vs Hewitt for gold!).

That's a great attitude from Addlington. The New Zealander who came fourth in that final was in tears of joy after her race. She gave her all and wasn't disappointed. Therefore what right do I have to be disappointed that she missed out on bronze? Our swimmers overall have been disappointing though.

I have to disagree. Some of our commentators may be considered bias to other countries. The thing is though 99% of their viewers will be NZers so that's who they will cater for. I don't care if the commentators don't know a lot about the 100m sprinter from Malawi as long as they do a good job with our athletes.

Absolutely agree.
It's a shame that many (especially the tabloids) consider anything other than a gold a failure.
To even qualify for the olympics is a fantastic achievement, so as long as the athlete gives their all then that's all you can ask.

The British athlete (can't remember his name unfortunately!) in the single man rowing this morning, for example - he got the bronze but he was basically crying with happiness. He gave absolutely everything on the course and had to be carried from his boat, basically. That's all you can ask from the man.

She broke the NZ record in the semi with a personal best, and then knocked another three seconds off that in the final. She gave her all and left absolutely nothing behind. You can't ask any more than that!

And what will they be doing in those rounds?

There is no striking in wrestling or judo and there is no grappling in taekwondo and boxing. I think that you just have to appreciate each martial art as their own unique style. If you dont like watching it, change the channel.

So serious/angry bro! I don't not like each martial art - in fact, I actually love judo, wrestling, and can appreciate a bit of taekwondo. I'm simply suggesting some ideas.

Is that ok with you?

Good Lauren boyle - shows a good attitude. Not everything should really about winning sometimes.

And awesome of our rowing boys again and for Nick Willis having a good showing. :D

Not a great swim for Jenkins or Holland.
Holland looks a bit out of form atm, but hopefully one/both can catch up with the break/Hall.
Still a while to go yet on the bike, and then the run too, so plenty of time!

Still a big pack in the front of the triathlon bike leg.... it could all come down to the run....
