Leinster Rugby - Montpellier (21/01/2012, 13:30)

Not really worrying think players were looking toward the 6n after the 3rd try.

Because of his height it was easy enough to get under him. The general consensus was if he won the hit he wasn't budging if he lost it he was going back at a rate of knots unfortunately as he got older obviously his reactions got slower so he wasn't winning the hit. Before someone says Hayman is also 6'4" he's a freak of nature.

I wouldn't say Hayes was pants - I'd say he is pants. Which is to be expected: the man's older than time itself. Still stronger than an ox though.
In his hey day he was a very good player for both Ireland and Munster.

Hayes wasn't great it's true, but you have to remember the dire straits Irish rugby was in regarding the front row around 07'. We had Hayes Horan, Buckle and Bryan Young as our props for the RWC that year - a truly shocking state of affairs. There didn't seem to be anyone coming through the pipe line on either side of the scrum so under those circumstances a tighthead who could hold his own against most teams was a bit of a godsend.

While we're not exactly blessed now, things have indeed moved on. Ross has a few more years left in him while Healy will have the number 1 jersey in good stead for at least another 8 years. Hagan, McGrath, McAllister, Archer and Maguire are all at least in the system now and with the way props develop one or two of them could turn out to be top class given the right instruction. This is all the more likely considering that the provinces are going to have to try their best to bring them up to HC standard within 3 years.

Just to say Leinster "A" won 32-0 a today apparently McGrath played well tries by Gilsenan, Macken (2) and Hudson Reid with 12 points from the boot (2p 3c) and set up Gilsenan's and Macken's first.

Was at it. Gilsenan, Keogh, Reid and Macken were impressive in my view. Kearney played well in attack too. Really liked what I saw from Marsh when he came on.

Was gonna go but lazy friends put a stop to that what happened to Ruddock?

I know just wasn't C. Ruddock named 6 and captain also who ended up playing fullback?

I was at this game...pretty hard watching, dull as dishwater, montpellier didnt show up
