HEC: Montpellier - Leinster (12-11-2011)

It's press about him therefore his press or his own press, is that ok or would you like me to explain it further. Seriously I don't know why you've made such a big deal about this.

Its a selection heandache for Schmidt. By playing Nacewa on the wing they're weakening that position because hes not a very good winger. Kearney os more solid no doubt but going forward Nacewa is more creative.

D'Arcy is another who could be dropped. They've other players who have more to offer now I think. Madigan, O'Malley or even Fitz in midfield would offer something different.

Heaslip is really gone off the boil. Part of the reason is he plays best when the game is played at pace. Today is was a slow game until the last quarter and he was getting knocked back by the big Montpellier pack.

Just his own press is like you saying I'm going to be on Ireland next year and win world player of the year, It's you talking yourself off not the same if the press said it about you.

Hilarious. And their is a big difference. You make him sound like a lazy asshole which he's not.

That's exactly what I think he is but for God's sake I never even said he played badly, only that he could have been soooooooo much better and if you don't think that you're crazy.

No its crazy to think someone can get to that level if their lazy. Unless of course their name is Caucau.

Kearney was good i thought. I was really surprised to see him countering and actually beating a few players to make good yardage. He was also very solid at the back. Thought Nacewa was crap on the wing, felt like he was trying too hard. Heaslip's ****, he's seriously lacking a lot of power and ends up trying to run around players. That is not what a backrower should be doing, if it's a loose game great but as seen today when it's tight he gets a little manhandled. Also McFadden has still yet to impress me in the centre. He lacks the distribution skills.

Gorgodze, Ouedraogo and Martin really outplayed a back row with O'Brien and Heaslip and as Olyy says Gorgodze made O'Brien look like O'Gara

Montpellier were upset at the end that the ref cut the advantage so soon after the D'Arcy knock on which was followed by a sliced kick, but one can't say the ref was inconsistent throughout the match although I think the advantage should have been played, they were also upset that Martin's turnover wasn't a penalty

Leinster HCup experience proved the difference in my opinion

I like Gorgodze , but I don't think he had one of his better games today , he was smashed every time he ran at leinster in the first half , and only made an impact going forward in one or two instances in the second , defensively he was very sound however , although not holding Cronin was unlucky.
I would have given the MOTM to Quedrego , he was quality

you're right he started slowly, but he got steadily awesome throughout the match, and in the second half he was regularly moving Montpellier forward (more than one or two instances) and he kept attacks going with some deft offloads and was a monster in the rucks

And he also pulled out a very scary face to put Johnny Sexton off that last kick but it just didn't work out for him. :p

I thought Gorgodze was really good in that match - he made the kind of impact you'd expect SOB to make - running through whoever's in front and monstering people in the tackle

Do agree with Ouedraogo was immense though, was a brilliant performance by him

I missed the game. and i cant find the vid anywhere! i feel like i'm the only one in the world who didn't watch that.... :(

we'll take a draw and hope to build on it. Sexton had a very good match but we just couldn't handle them at the breakdown which is slightly worrying.

I have to say SOB is attracting so much heat from defences its ridiculous , teams have changed their gameplans to counteract him , its just a matter of adapting to hit the space that's left as a result of this.

He still makes the gameline time after time and throws in the boshes nonetheless but I really want him at 8 or 6 as he seems to have lost some weight in chest/legs since moving to 7

Yeah that's what i noticed too and those are pretty much the areas you need to boulder people off.

Did anybody see Sexton's interview, when he was asked about the WC he replied something like "it's great to be back at Leinster where we have a really good coach that lets us express ourselves"
ah found it
