Learning Afrikaans

does anyone have any recommendations for books or the such to learn Afrikaans? Preferably aimed at the beginner, for my foreign language background is firmly rooted in the Latin traditionl(4 years french in HS, continuing it in the fall at university and two HS years of latin)

I ask because first i wish to know, and second because i plan on moving to South Africa for a time(currently stateside), and wish to be able to converse in both English and Afrikaans
