French pull of a fantastic victory over the arch enemy England 30-18, and who said France has no depth!!!!!! The English pack is huge but they just never moved forward and honestly the French deserved their victory, directly into the semis first time for 4 years i think, and we had 3 Montpellier players on the park.

Really? I can't believe it. Congrats!

And Thomas Ramos of Toulouse kicked all the points. Baille and Marchand our 2 frontrowers were also involved. Let's see how far they go.

Really weird watching the ref try his best to ignore the fact that the Aus scrum is being absolutely munched here....

He's resetting scrums when it is clear what is going on....at one stage, the entire Aus U20 scrum simply dropped to their knees, front row and second row....and he simply reset it.

I understand he's trying to keep it competitive, but exactly how far can you warp/bend/reinterpret the rules?

Playing essentially the same team in all three matches and missing our starting halbacks is really beginning to tell. 25-3

Finally, in the 50th minute, the Aus prop is binned for, yep, you guessed.....dropping straight to his knees in the scrum.

Wow! I didn't see that demolition coming from the baby boks, and I'm even more surprized that the french beaten England.

So the semi-finalists are:
France vs New Zealand
South Africa vs England.

The French deserved their victory they outplayed English giving away 7kg a man in the scrum which is plenty, the backs were much sharper and the continual binfull of mistakes that England made, gave them no power or shape to go forward. The French took their chanceswhen they came along and were worthy winners, now lets see what they can do against the Baby Blacks, another difficult task. S Africa v England could be a battle of the giants upfront.

You shouldn't be...

The team is a significant step down from the last two years, and the guy we have coaching them (John Callard) is routinely in charge of absolutely dismal Saxons performances.
There are some really, really good individuals in the squad, but not as many as in previous years.

I don't buy that at all - 7kg per man is a ridiculously massive difference, the sort of difference that is very obvious to the naked eye... I think you'd be hard pressed to say that there was an obvious size differential.
If you go by the weights that French players say they are they are basically the smallest rugby playing country in the world - I've been convinced for a number of years that French sides decrease the posted weight of their players systematically. The black prop that came on as a sub for France was clearly significantly larger than all the other props on the field (he was huge) yet was supposedly smaller than both of the English props.

It's not a particularly big English pack - they aren't small - but they aren't notably big.

when i say 7kg a man its on average and not literally and although the prop who came off the bench was heavier i will admit (last 5 mins Paeva came on in the 75min and certainly no time to impress weight or other wise))) the scrum weights are produced on the starting XV not the bench and you could see without any problems that the English pack was much heavier unless of course you have problems with your eyes!!!!!!
Technique often out plays weight and for 70 mins of the game the French were tecnically better in the set pieces by a country mile.hence the win, obviously you do know the old phrase "NO SCRUM NO WIN"

It's also a younger squad this year iirc, and France came second in the 6nations only losing to England by 24-11, I was expecting us to not win this year after the last few years.

Also the Callard syndrome continues - how many poor performances will it take before the RFU understand he's destroying everything below the EPS?

I have to agree. I was surprised he got the job; as Rats said, he was in charge of some very good Saxons sides that produced shocking performances. They were usually marked by terrible organisation, which is exactly what yesterday's defeat was. I think Gloucester will be very happy they snapped up Nick Walshe.

And whilst I don't think the team is as good as the last two years', there's still a decent core of experience left and a few talented players (Packman, Tompkins, Genge, and Hill). Whilst I didn't/don't expect they'll win, there's no reason they couldn't have got a better seeding in the semis.

Also, I think Gaston was watching a different scrum entirely. England scored a penalty try and a quick-tap try from their scrum, so France can't have been doing that well. England weren't noticeably bigger either, and the French were lucky not to be penalised far more. Their only saving grace was that when they wheeled and collapsed the ball sometimes came out the back and the referee called play on.

SO IF I AM TO UNDERSTAND AFTER WATCHING THE WHOLE GAME THAT FRANCE PLAYED CRAP, NEVER GOT PENALISED, HAD THE WEAKER SCRUM, were not lighter, did NOT play better upfront than England, yet they won by 12 points, sorry also very lucky, and they probably wheeled the scrum the wrong way as well WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP THEY WERE THE BETTER TEAM, JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS, this sounds very much like the very very sour grapes, you lost end of story beaten by a better team on the day no more no less, but probably better prepared, they learned from their loss in the 6 Nations againgst England i shall get the video show to Montpellier and we will play all our games playing crap and win by 12pts, hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well you did score an interception try... which is usually a 14 point swing...

Good god Gaston, calm your ***s.

don't worry i am very calm just pis*** off listening to the usual amount of drivel that some of you guys post when England lose, (rats and crappiest spray or whatever he's called) every excuse under the sun they were beaten by a better prepared and better equipped team, end of story just stand up and admit it and stop bleating!!!!!!!!!!!!

which is only 7pts of 30 and it was from an England attack 15mts from the French try line do they not have wingers fast enough over 85mts to catch an overweigbht centre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's drivel? Where are the excuses?
Callard is a terrible coach, people have been saying it for years.
This isn't exactly a vintage England side, people have been saying it since the Six Nations.
If you're only allowed to talk about how great the winning side is in a match then there's not much point discussing matches at all.

read the posts especially Rats and crapspray's apparently England lost the game from your side of the channel and France did not win it the excuses are there i never mentioned Callard, never said it was a vintage side i only said when someone merits congratulations give it to them, not look for pathetic excuses, did you see anybody from France knocking England at both levels in the 6 nations when they were well beaten by England NO, and everybody is entitled to talk about both teams but lets try and be honest if that is possible as i well know that French bashing is one of your national sports, but my shoulders are very broad and the ducks back and water is operational so get off your high horse!!!!!!!!!!! your ***le of English Arrogance suits you well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
