Jwrc 2015

We should come together us teams in green. SA has the exact opposite issue to Ireland. We have a good pack, better than last year's I feel but our backs just don't have the penetration or creativity to go all the way IMO- if the current pack is a step up from last year, the backs are two down unfortunately.

This is beginning to sound like a really good idea, loosehead Jeremy Loughman has been ruled out of the tournament with a broken nose.

Scotland's forwards are heavier by 5kg per forward and they certainly made that clear in the first while and a few times since. Yet the classiness of our backs has also told and we're 8-0 ahead with nearly 30 gone.

It's 31 degrees and 43% humidity so pretty horrible conditions forr the lads to play in.

Also there has to be something wrong with the commentary team being a Hastings brother and a Saffa.

As I type Conor Oliver the lightest forward on the pitch at 92kg squirms over. 15-0.

Are the games on tv anywhere?

BT are showing all of them.

Our TG4 for the Irish matches if you're in Ireland.

Obviously the humidity will have some effect but the Scot's handling has been abysmal.

18-3 just after half time.

Scotland have messed up about three probable tries know with knock ons. We need to get the ball in a more dangerours position.

Scotland's scrummie is suitably scrappy.

Zach McCall for all his ability in the loose, is a massive liability with him on we go down below 20% on our lineouts I'd say.

Scotland score off a maul. While they have done well to get it we really offered them too many chances with stupidity. 21-13 with 65 gone.

Hastings was commentating on some of the Irish u20 games with RTE in the 6N, yet he still mispronounces so many of the names, really annoying.

Horrible second half from Ireland, what could have been a bonus point win ends up being 24-20 win. Fair play to Scotland for getting into it but some of our play was just stupid. I don't see much hope for the match up vs NZ.

Anyone watch the Argentina v NZ game sounded really good 29 - 32 to NZ suggest very close.

15 all with 20 to go with NZ looking to break away only for Argentina to catch up. Argentina pushed SA all the way in our warm-ups as well. Pity that a tougher pool means probably both Ireland and (certainly) Argentina aren't going any further.

Packman is really ****ing good, but I still have doubts about his ability to look as impressive as a senior...

The pack the South African U20 team started against Samoa weighed 901kg, and after the subs around the 65th minute, the pack weighed 910kg.

That's heavier than most senior test packs...

The starting loose trio all weighed over 110kg, with the shortest loose forward being 6ft4!

Dat Genge, Walker, Hill front row.

Genge in particular looks a star in the making; he's phenomenal in the loose. I can't imagine Bristol will be able to hold onto him for much more then another season if they fail to go up again next year.

Imagine the ball carrying ability of a front row of genge, dickie, Brookes...sheesh

Hill is the most impressive for me - he has the footballing skills and understanding of someone like Henry Thomas, but he's actually built like a TH and can scrummage.

He is the best player in this squad IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Genge get picked up by another club, but at the same time - he seems like quite a loyal guy - hometown club and all.
Particularly if he gets assurances that the Prem is going to be expanded.

Last year both of their bench props weighed 130kg.

Last year both of their bench props weighed 130kg.

One of those props are playing again this year, Thomas Du Toit, bu has lost a bit weight. He's now only 120kg's.

But yeah, our pack is massive, especially if you look at RG Snyman, The Du Preez Brothers and Liebenberg.

I think at this level sheer mass counts for a lot than it does at senior level where everyone is big or used to playing against big players. The higher you go up technique, work rate, all roundedness and plain old fitness counts for more.

whether its mass or not you have to admit the Saffa pack is monster monsterous, quite happy i'm not playing anymore they were pretty impressive last time round.hope they don't get angry!!!!!!!!!!
