June Internationals - South Africa vs. Scotland (15/06/2013)

Was really surprised to see Shreuder called up but when I thought about it; Pienaar and Van Zyl in the 22, Hougaard, Vermaak and Reinach injured, Kockott and Du Preez AWOL... and yeah it's probably between Schreuder and Pretorius; two totally different 9's and HM will always choose Schreuder's superior service and game management over Pretorius' runs and support play.

Sad to see Flo out and am I right in saying he is getting married to an English girl? Hope that doesn't mean he is staying in England permanently although that doesn't seem to have been a problem the last 2 years for Bok selection. Now we are short a fetcher so will Labuschagne come in ahead of Coetzee because he plays better towards the ball? He should be ahead in any case and HM has said there will be some rotation.

Based on what I read, Flouw is committed to the Boks, and he's getting Married in SA. Maybe starting a family could mean him moving back to SA.

I have this feeling in my gut that some forgotten heroes might return to our shores sooner than expected. HM's plans are taking flight and I know many guys are sitting up and taking notice. The excitement in the SA rugby community is electrifying, and this squad has been for the first time met with very few criticism.

Our evolvement plays a huge role and HM picking in form local players shows that abroad players will rethink their decisions. It will be interesting to see what a guy like Jano Vermaak will do, now that he got his bok cap, he has to make a tough decision on whether he will stay or go, and some other guys will do the same. That said, there will still be an exodus of players, but with HM's plan with the local guys (which I think is the best way) the future decisons the guys make will be very interesting to see.

As for Saturday, I would like to see some of the rookies have a go. Lappies, must probably be on top of the list.

Anyways, the team will be announced as usual tomorrow at 12

I hope Brendan Venter takes Flouw around Natal, show him some lovely property...
I really would like to see HM put emphasis on players remaining in SA, we don't want them all buggering off to France for a paycheck.

Reports earlier in the week were that Lambie could start, would be an interesting call. Steyn wasn't bad, but I suppose it is rotation. Also, it would show that HM still backs Lambie as a real candidate after making him first choice last November.

According to Supersport Blitz, Francois Louw will rejoin the team on Monday, following his wedding... Man he's going to be tired!!

Stay the hell away! Flo is a Cape boy and the Stormers miss him especially with Burger out out for good. You guys already have congestion in the LF department.

Yeah, The Jan Pickard stand will turn in his grave if Flouw goes to the banana-province

15. Willie le Roux, 14. Bryan Habana, 13. JJ Engelbrecht, 12. Jean de Villiers (captain), 11. Bjorn Basson, 10. Morné Steyn, 9. Ruan Pienaar, 8. Pierre Spies, 7. Arno Botha, 6. Marcell Coetzee, 5. Juandré Kruger, 4. Eben Etzebeth, 3. Jannie du Plessis, 2. Adriaan Strauss, 1. Tendai Mtawarira

Substitutes: 16. Bismarck du Plessis, 17. Trevor Nyakane, 18. Coenie Oosthuizen, 19. Flip van der Merwe, 20. Siya Kolisi, 21. Piet van Zyl, 22. Pat Lambie, 23. Jan Serfontein

Minimum changes with the forced changes of Pienaar in for Vermaak and Coetzee in for F Louw the only changes to the starting XV. Fit again BdP replaces Ralepelle while Kolisi and Van Zyl come in to fill the voids on the bench. I'm happy enough with the squad other than I'd have liked Labuschagne to come in at 6 with Kolisi on the bench at Coetzee's expense. I suppose Alberts is still unavaiable.

For this game lets hope the boys pick up where they left off ITO attitude but get greater accuracy and I hope the bench get more opportunity.

Yeah, Willem Alberts withdrew late last night according to Blitz.

At least we are trying to be consistent. I expect The bench to have an early run on. especially Pat and Jan. Happy with the team. Good to see our Ship back!

say, uh, two questions for you Safas:

1) you do know Kelly Brown's out for Scotland yeh ?

2) do you know who, or what Kelly Brown is ?

Their captain, right? Ugly guy in the backrow and one of their better players?

^ ahah !! so you DO pay some attention to the NH !!

Who me ?? A complex towards the SH ?! noooooooooooooo !!

I'm going to make a pretty huge assumption and say he is a block of aged mild cheddar cheese.

I only know European players who either play for their country or have played Super Rugby like Delve, Cipriani, Goode (Although everbody calls him Baade)

TBH I don't know the entire Scotland or Italy teams (even at full strngth) but then again know some of the English, French and Irish players that are uncapped. Some of them from the junior ranks. For instance the fact that Christian Wade is ripping it up down in Argentina after a call-up comes as no surprise.

Very difficult to pick a score for this one. I think Scotland are gonna rely on spoiling tactics but drop off towards the end and I'll go with Bokke by 30.

Yeah, he plays for Saracens.

Question for you:

Why do you ask redundant questions??

just havin a laugh buddy, just havin a laugh...
man ! for a guy with a Will Farrell avatar...:p

EDIT: no doubt Scotland are getting annihilated. Brown helped so much at the breakdown, and even with him they barely manage to stay in matches like VS Samoa...
South Africa's scoreline against Italy was very telling, and though the match itself doesn't really fit the score, it's still a big 45 on Italy...
Scotland will have to hope their current wingers (Visser and the other guy who scored one on Samoa) can manage one-man plays on their own, and that the scrum can take over.

I think we're in for another 44-10, very very similar I would predict.

I think the score will be even more than vs. Italy. The Debutants nerves are now a bit more settled, the team had more time to prepare. And they are playing in the lowveld. I hope the Scots like rockhard playing surfaces, because they are going to feel it.

I'm thinking the Boks by 50+ margin

Well, if Steyn can continue with 100% at the posts (very likely), JJ finishes more than 1/3 of his opportunities, we get at least parity at the scrums and line-outs (or even get back on top!), not fail at the kick-offs and if our play makers out wide continue their good form... well it could get ugly I suppose. I just have an idea that Scotland's general defense and harrying work at the breakdown will be better than Italy's and I prefer to keep my expectations somewhat lower rather than be disappointed at winning by less than 40 LOL.

Good strategy, lower your expectations. I like to do that with online dating.

I mean errr... uhm... err..

Go Bokke!
