June Internationals: Japan v Wales, Second Test (15/06/13)

Excellently created try, lovely linking up between Patchell and Biggar then Dan puts a beauty of a pass out wide

Terrible from Patchell, dire. Did the hard work, just needed to get the ball into Prydies hands.

Was Gill trying to tackle or run Wings back?

Good speed getting the ball out of the ruck by the Japanese. The Welsh need to do more to disrupt the rucks to prevent them doing that quick play.

That Jap 11 has some pace.

Dafydd Howells is a lazy ****, no effort at all to get out in defence there, literally jogging towards where he should have been for that try before the ball was out of that ruck. Why the hell is he on this tour?!

So, have we just decided to not have a midfield of even pub rugby standard? It's not like we left two actual centers out of the 23.

lineouts and scrums as well...

Ref is annoying the crap out of me, we're only off our feet there because 2 Japanese players dived off theirs!

Turned off by now. Well done Japan, fully deserved. Awful awful display by a poorly selected Welsh team. Injuries to the majority of our best 2nd string players never helps. Hope Robin McBryde never coaches a big team on his own!

Good win for Japan, especially as they have never beaten Wales.

I got the feeling that there is a huge amount of pressure in the Wales camp at the moment. They had the chances and the attacking firepower to win this game, but played in all the wrong areas and tried forcing the offload or the pass which led to errors. It's to be expected at their age. Its the pressure in the camp that I imagine is not helping. The Welsh forwards haven't been particularly savvy at the breakdown either.

Japan played a solid game against a young team.

Does this game effect rankings? If it does Wales are in trouble haha.

What a mess of a performance this has been from Wales. No apparent game plan whatsoever.

On the other hand, congratulations to Japan, they thoroughly deserve this victory. They've been phenomenal, considering they're 15th in the rankings. It's been one of the best, if not THE best performance I've ever seen from a minnow.

This is going to be great for Japanese rugby, and a good audience-pull well in advance of the 2019 world cup. They're playing some very exciting running rugby, but what's also pleasing to see is that they can now front-up physically as well. Some huge players in that squad.

From a Welsh perspective, I suppose you could say that was a 3rd string team in areas of the field - i.e. a 2nd string would have included Ryan Jones, Hook, Scott Williams, Beck, Rees, Charteris etc. So I guess with players like Dafydd Howells (still struggling to see why he was included) who have only played 2 club games at regional level Wales were always in massive danger of being upset.

Congratulations to Japan proud new holders of the TRF Shield.

Commiserations Wales.

Great performance and win by japan, who play a great style of rugby. Hopefully the first of many big wins for them. Futures looking bright.

It was a capped game so I think it does. Good play by Japan. It's nice watching a team maintain such continuity with quick ball out of the ruck.
