June International Test: Australia vs. England [2nd Test] (18/06/2016)

Well done to England. However, that was some of the dumbest rugby I've ever seen by the Aussies. In two games straight. Is Cheika starting to believe his own publicity?

Robshaw was MOTM. Totally deserved. Ran, tackled, turned over ball, kicked it. Did it all.

Australia were terrible but that was an impressive defensive effort from England

Ugh, I feel dirty for saying that. Need to redress the balance. Mike Brown remains a **** of the highest order.

Thats better.

alot of the rules in this game are simply wrong.
After today's games, i'm afraid i have to agree with you. The concepts of proportionality and intention are irrelevant. You can tackle someone mid air and get a penalty against, but if you slip, touch him and he lands bad enough, it's a red card.

Beale was sorely missed this game for Aussie, he's no world beater, but he provides some flair in attack and originality/unpredictabilty, not the same old predictable stuff, could've opened England up
Without Beale the Aussies only real line breaker is Folau and Tumua. Definitely missed.

"Muhammad Ali would be really proud of you" what is this interviewer on about?

I think he's referring to the Rumble in the Jungle and Ali's tactics of taking the punches of Foreman on the ropes until Foreman punched himself out and then Ali knocked him out. So akin to England's massive defensive effort and taking all the Wallabies had to throw at them and then finishing them off at the end.

Different kettle of fish is the All Blacks. All Blacks got a habit of beating hyped up teams. Actually they got a habit of beating everyone.

Sorry England is no hype job though. They can play SH style now and that's the difference.

Great game England. Convincing!

We would win, we have far more imagination than that pitiful Australian backline, England defended really well, but Aussie were just rubbish on attack, AB's are far more lethal.

Already that arrogant ? Come on. Eddie Jones is an astute coach, however we will now not know this year. Will have to wait for End of the Year 2017 or possible England tour of NZ 2018.

MotM
Week 1: Haskell
Week 2: Robshaw
I mean WTF, I just can't believe it, How did Eddie do it?!?!?
Even Cole looked like the Cole of old.
Who next

That was epic. I think Aussie arrogance out did them somewhat. At least 6 points thrown away on the belief they would breach the English line, and that could have turned the game for them. But England's defensive effort was nothing short of outstanding. Robshaw, Hask, Cole all had great games. And can I just touch on all the talk before the game by Aussies of us cheating in the scrum. Slipper went in at an angle every single time, and still got smashed up by Cole.

Amazing stuff. Well done lads, now one tap next weekend and a true whitewash finish. They deserve nothing less.

Man this reff is full of ****. No way Folau could get out of that. It was a two man tackle. Tough **** for England if its slow ball.

Haskell got done the same way after about 5 minutes!!

Anyways, great great performance from a team (or majority of) that Lancaster could not make work. Kudos to Jones of whom I was not a supporter and hope he gets a decent spell before the inevitable knocking starts!! May he put in place a decent progression line to be his replacements.....

Haskell and Robshaw were, along with most, fantastic - hopefully this will end the incessant calls on here for their replacements by Clifford, Kvesic, Beaumont etc etc at least for some time.

Looking forward to seeing the tri nations, yes I know it has changed, to see how the Aussie squad measures up. Who could have conceived that England would be 2nd in the world after the RWC......when are the next RWC seedlings fixed?

It's not arrogant. I'm just posting on what's happened in the history of rugby.

Yeh i'm guessing Toby might not be a big boxing fan if he didn't get that, Which is fair enough.

Now what team for next weekend i would go for.
1) vunipola
2) Hartley
3) cole
4) Itoje
5) Lawes
6) Robshaw
7) Haskell
8) Vunipola
9) Youngs
10) Ford
11) Yarde
12) Faz
13) JJ
14) Nowell/Watson
15) Watson/Nowell

16) George
17) Genge
18) Hill
19) Launchbury
20) Harrison
21) Clifford
22) Care
23) Daly

Might be harsh on Kruis and Brown but both looked knackered today, and where not great. Would like to see us being able to bring off All the back row if needs be as they have put in some huge shifts and might not last the final 20 next weekend. (Might be wrong).

Hate when people say things like this.
The calls were 100% justified at the time, but hindsight is 20/20.
Much like the outrage when Gatland picked 90% of the Wales team in the Lions - it worked out in the end but it was still a mental call at the time.

Exactly. They are fantastic in a game based entirely around defence and work rate. They still have the same weaknesses EJ is just better at playing to their strengths and basing the gamplan on their strengths.

I 100% agree with what you're saying, but I also think it's fair to say that they've both improved massively on their weaknesses. Both have been getting a few turnovers, which last year, or maybe even last month, would've been unimaginable. And whereas Haskell used to just be a lump, his work rate is now superhuman, the same goes for Robshaw, but his work rate's always been great. I think it's fair to say now that if both keep up the form they've found under Jones, both are serious contenders for spots in the Lions squad.

Don't mistake arrogance for truth.

The Aussie backline was simply terrible and Fardy dropped more balls than a teenage boy hitting puberty.

The AB's are clinical in attack, albeit a bit soft in defense at the moment. England defended nicely, but ultimately won because of Australias woeful handling error count and lack of imagination in attack. Can you really picture the AB's putting in a performance like that?

No.

That surely counts for players coming in as well though... Eddie can probably get a lot out of them too.

The likelihood is that Robshaw and Haskell will be replaced sooner rather than later, they are going to be 34 and 35 respectively in 2019, and it is unlikely that one or both of them can maintain this form without injury.
