Ireland's flyhalf versus Scotland?

What would everyone think of Dave McSharry coming in for D'Arcy, then? I really rate him, even if I know Kidney's far too conservative.

I rate him but he's not the sort of player I'd throw in to an international game while hopefully playing a new 10. On attack he's brilliant but I'd question his defence sometimes.

He made two breaks and is a good winger not a good enough one to be in the 23 but a good one none the less **** centre but sill not as bad a player as many would have you believe.

Cave is a better sentence but you shouldn't take your anger on Cave not getting selected out on Earls.

I, uhm, think I know what you mean with that last sentence, but I'm struggling a little...

If Earls had to stuck to wing people would like him. Gilroy wouldn't be in the Ireland team and no one would be complaining. He's a seriously good winger. Shame about centre.

Sorry, forgot to mention he's injured as well.

Kidney still would have picked him at centre especially with the media calling for him.

An enlightened coach would pick Luke Marshall or Dave McSharry to replace Gordon D'arcy. Declan Kidney will pick Paddy Wallace or Keith Earls.

I assume this will be the last we see of D'arcy in a green jersey.

Sorry, looks like we've broken Luke Marshall again already.

**** sake. Cave is having a good game so far, made a great turnover earlier.
Edit: and an even better pass to set up Diack

Yeah say he'll be out again for another while. Think Kidney may rest BO'D and go for O'Gara-Walace-Earls? A defence that'll strike fear into any attack.

Can't understand the decision to omit Ian Madigan. If Paddy Jackson was seriously being considered to start, he'd have kicked for Ulster this weekend on Declan Kidney's say so. It's easy to get unnecessarily personal in criticizing the coach's decisions. I'll try to rise above that and just say he has lost the plot with regards his rugby decisions.

Ronan O'Gara is currently the 4th best flyhalf available to Ireland (behind Jonny Sexton, Ian Madigan and Paddy Jackson). It's genuinely baffling that he's still deemed good enough to start. A case could be made that he's not a risk since he has bags of experience to fall back on. I'd argue that his all around game is now a liability and negates whatever advantage his experience may hold.

I'd be worried for Marshall as well if he has to play with RO'G he'll be getting terrible ball miles behind the gainline near the sideline cause RO'G's run across the field. Scotland should just employ a blitz defence and bring Denton and Morrison back in running at 10 all day.

Its ridiculous! If ROG or Jackson get injured before the Scotland game, who plays? You can bring Madigan in but what knowledge will have of the Ireland set up considering the game plan they adopt is so vastly different to the one he has developed. But what about if ROG or Jackson gets injured during the warm up, who plays 10? Marshall is the only other player in the squad that is capable of playing fly half, but that's at relatively very low level and surely that cannot be an option.

(edit- I forgot that Earls can play 10......)

Keatley would probably get called up in thid hypothetical situation

Not if he's planning to play McFadden to take the place kicks, which he may well be doing.

Also, Ian Keatley would be mortally offended reading that post.

Hard to pick him for Ireland when he's behind O'Gara for Munster! I agree with you though, Keatley is a better player. Should have had O'Gara as my 5th ranked flyhalf.

Also O'Donnell in, I don't know what you guys think, but O'Donnell has been outstanding for Munster this year, absolutely great prospect.

Watching TO'D this year and last I've thought he's good just not sure if he's international standard yet I would also rather Henry. Anyway I'm sure Henderson will be the backrow sub.

Improve your grammar man, I need to read you're posts two or three times to comprehend them. :p

The hate for O'Gara on this forum is unbelievable. I'm not justifying his selection because I think Deccie and my Dad are the only ones who could but I think that people are so negative towards him that if by some miracle he plays well on Sunday people will still be calling for his head on a plate. O'Gara is the one player in this country that gets an unbelievable amount of stick despite being one of our best ever players, he's hardly going to decline opurtunities to play for Ireland when their being handed to him.

As for O'Donnell he's a bit too inconsistent for my liking and for all the insults that Jamie "Houdini" Heaslip gets for drifting in and out of games from Munster fans, they talk up one of their own players who does exactly the same thing! I'd like to see him play for eighty minutes solidly a few times before giving him an international cap.

I really hope that Madigan starts attacking O'Gara's and Jackson's ankles during this week because I'd love to see him start. He's one of the most overlooked players in Irish rugby.
