The Ireland Wolfhounds will take on Scotland 'A' at Ravenhill on Friday night, looking to get back to winning ways after Sunday's 17-13 loss to England Saxons in Bath. Ireland team manager Paul McNaughton announced a squad of 20 players earlier today, which includes Chris Henry, the sole Irish try scorer against the Saxons, and Niall Ronan, Denis Hurley and Johne Murphy, who all missed Sunday's encounter.

The fit-again Marcus Horan remains in the 'A' squad, while hooker Nigel Brady and out-half Ian Keatley are new inclusions.

Vacancies have been left in the back row and at hooker pending the announcement tomorrow of the Ireland team to play Italy in the opening game of the RBS 6 Nations.

The Wolfhounds team will be named on Wednesday.

Tickets for Friday's international clash in Belfast are available from the Ravenhill Ticket Office (Monday-Friday, 9am to 5pm), the Ticket Hotline (tel: 028 90 493 222, Option 2 (Monday-Friday, 10am-12pm)), SS Moores (6 Chichester Street, Belfast, tel: 028 90 322966) or by clicking here.

IRELAND WOLFHOUNDS Squad (v Scotland 'A', 'A' International Match, Ravenhill, Friday, February 5, kick-off 7.30pm):

Isaac Boss (Ballymena/Ulster)
Nigel Brady (Belfast Harlequins/Ulster)
Tony Buckley (Shannon/Munster)
Ryan Caldwell (Dungannon/Ulster)
Darren Cave (Belfast Harlequins/Ulster)
Ian Dowling (Shannon/Munster)
Chris Henry (Ballymena/Ulster)
Marcus Horan (Shannon/Munster)
Ian Humphreys (Ballymena/Ulster)
Denis Hurley (Cork Constitution/Munster)
Shane Jennings (St. Mary's College/Leinster)
Ian Keatley (Galwegians/Connacht)
Keith Matthews (Buccaneers/Connacht)
Fergus McFadden (Old Belvedere/Leinster)
Johne Murphy (Leicester Tigers)
Mick O'Driscoll (Cork Constitution/Munster)
Niall Ronan (Shannon/Munster)
Mike Ross (Clontarf/Leinster)
Peter Stringer (Shannon/Munster)
Devin Toner (Lansdowne/Leinster)[/b]

Shane Jennings and Chris Henry being named in the squad means that Sean O'Brien has probably received the nod to make the Ireland bench versus Italy on Saturday.

also means Reddan on the bench even though Boss would deserve the spot.

Best will now also probably be on the bench at least.

So subtracting these guys out of the original 44 man squad we're left with a talented 31 Man Squad.

Earls will be on wing and Best will be #16 vs Italy as we need an experienced hooker and he'll give us that as Cronin isn't experienced and Fla won't last 80mins.
And don't rule out D.Ryan as a replacement

Chris Henry comes into the team as one of several changes to the side that lost 17 â€" 13 to the England Saxons on Sunday and has also been selected to lead the Wolfhounds in their first competitive outing. With other players moving into the senior squad for this weekend's RBS Six Nations opener against Italy, the team shows seven personnel changes overall to the starting side from that Saxons game.

Johne Murphy is available and takes his place on the right wing. Darren Cave starts at outside centre with Fergus McFadden moving to inside centre and Keith Matthews named on the replacements. Ian Humphreys, who came on during the Saxons game, will start the game at outhalf.

In the pack, Sean Cronin will start at hooker and Ryan Caldwell comes into the side for Mick O'Driscoll to partner Devin Toner in the second row. With Sean O'Brien named in the replacements for the senior team, Dan Tuohy is named on the blindside with Shane Jennings moving to openside flanker.

Why is it that I think Scotland A would give Scotland first XV a good run???

Wow, maybe i underestimate Scotland Rugby. Some serious players in that team.

Because you'd be right. :p

The backrow and 15 is the only place where you could say the Scotland first XV are clearly ahead, the rest are marginal choices.

Apparently this is gonna be available to watch online on the Beeb website :) Might watch it if I have nothing else to do.

Yupp just teh BBC Sport webiste really, BBC Ulster are showing it (think I pick it up on Freesat anyway - I was watching BBC ALBA yesterday, so I wouldnt be suprised :p .)

The Scotland A team is arguably better than the Scottish first XV. Nikki Walker's playing, too. He's in great form for the Ospreys, and really should be in the main Scotland side.

IRELAND WOLFHOUNDS 34 SCOTLAND 'A' 19, Ravenhill, 7.30pm (HT: 17-0)

Scorers: Ireland Wolfhounds: Tries: Chris Henry, Fergus McFadden, Gavin Duffy, Isaac Boss, Johne Murphy; Cons: Ian Humphreys 3; Pen: Ian Humphreys

Scotland 'A': Tries: James Eddie, Mark Robertson, Penalty try; Cons: Ruaridh Jackson, Jim Thompson

This was an excellent game, with an outstanding performance from Gavin Duffy of all people! Seriously rock solid under the high ball, great hands, and very dangerous on the counter attack.

Chris Henry and, Ryan Caldwell (a changed man) and Dan Tuohy very good too, as was McFadden.
