Ireland v France

Beautiful and wonderfull game

We were still very penalised around rucks while green hands can come and do wherever and whenever they want, but Ireland clearly deserve this win.

Nothing to tell about us, all the line has been performant, but many things to work on defense (tries like BOD'S one should never have arrived...). The Tignous/Neauxis association is nearly operative, but I think Ellissalde has been missing in the last minutes (Morgan Parra might have a potential, but not on the level to enter such a match, moreover as a key player in the end, while behind of the score).

Congrat's Ireland, sure will I have to pay a beer to my Irish project manager this week...

After precising that I hope a French win versus England, Walles and Italy, will support you for the Grand slam, fishing second behind you will be honorific.
It's up to you now to go on

Thank christ for that!

None of the big players disappointed. Heaslip was great, but Harinord was even better - two best players on the pitch. Kearney under the high ball in first half was brilliant - smart tactics from Kidney.

And Ireland's centres are back, baby!

France are still getting there. Looked a much superior team up till the half hour, especially with the fast ball off the rucks. Thought they were getting tired in the last fifteen, when Ireland's pick and go set up Darse's try, but they came back again. Beauxis had a fine game, so problem solved there.

Ireland made some silly mistakes, and the kicking from both O'Leary and O'Gara I'd rate at 70%. Overall Ireland a bit too conservative, but we've got the core and lots of talent. Horgan for Bowe on the wing.

Five tries in this match were worth five hundred in the piece of **** that plopped on to Twickenham earlier today.

And after the fantastic style with which France played today I'll be supporting them!

classy comments there, Mr.cyclopede. I really am still buzzing after that match, not quite the same as that initial win in 2000 but still after 6 years it was worth the wait.

I don't think that Lievremont can be pillaried for his selection and I'd like to see elements of humble pie from certain people in the media. The half backs didn't let France down, the one criticism you can have is some missed tackles, but that was the same for Ireland as well and was always going to be the case in a game played at such pace and intensity.

Blasphemy.

Well sweet lord jesus that was some game of Rugby. All that is good about the 6 nations displayed in 80-ish minutes of frenetic, but technically excellent rugby. Few unforced errors, not too much aerial ping-pong, and a lot of attacking endeavour. A real advert for the game in the NH. I was watching it from home today and one of my daughters puked all over herself with about 4 mins to go. My wife called in for help but I couldnt move .......... "She can stew in it, I'm not moving".

Usually when we beat the French (once every 20 years or so) its because they mess up, or simply play poorly. The facts here are that France came to play rugby and they turned up too. THIS is the Ireland team we have been looking to see for the past 2-3 years, this is why we talk them up all the time.

As for France. If I was a neutral watching that game I'd be worried about travelling to Paris to face that. Lets just hope they French at home react positively to the defeat. It was great to see the real French team back and playing.

that's what makes this win all the sweeter and the one thing you can be sure of is that Kidney won't let them lose the run of themselves after it.

Yeah, have to say I'm absolutely buzzing, even if I didnt get to go to Croke Park this time round. Have it recorded, I'll watch it again later tonight.

The XV de France searching for it's rythm. The matches in November showed successively too much carefulness and rashness, while defense seemed to be in place....and now that's the failing sector.

To be fixed quickly...

Found Heymans not as his previous level last year, but impressed by Malzieu, even if some lacks in defense (bad placement to cover Beauxis' missing tacle...is it really to blame). I find him very powerfull and most of all very solid and stable. He many times received ball isolated and with the pressure of 2 or 3 Irish, but had been able to keep on his legs, waiting for a tardy support

yeah I'm gonna regret not recording that, would love to watch it back in the cold light of day and see if it was as good as it was first time round.

 Maybe your daughter has French sympathies?

I kind of threw up in my mouth as well, but managed to swallow it down at about minute 78.

Good championship brewing. No doubt Wales will be full of confidence tomorrow, but Scotland could be a nice surprise. The rest are a bunch of clowns.

well Italy will have a scrum half starting next week so should ask more questions than they did today.

Nahhh the tournament only gets interesting in round three. I wouldnt write off anyone at this stage.

Not looking forward to the rest of the Irish performances. I hate it when expectations rise as they only leads to dissapointment. Still, I'll live with it after today.

I should be able to convert to DVD, or possibly upload it if you really want it. Could post you out a copy if you decide you REALLY want it.

this is where Kidney should be in his element, he's certainly been able to manage expectations with Munster, here's hoping for more of the same with Ireland
