Ireland v England - 19 August 2023

He's said a few times he's no interest in coaching international rugby,
Says he loves the day to day of club rugby, developing players etc, wouldn't want the start/stop of international
Wonder if he could be tempted with a big enough offer, seems like he would suit it brilliantly. Tbh I think Baxter wouldnt be bad at international level either, his strength was building a squad and hiring good asisstant coaches.

I know you're an admin so there's no point reporting you, but I would
I've been very consistent over the last however many years in saying both Aki and Earls are shite, it should come as no surprise that I'm not keen on this try

I think that's exactly why he wouldn't be, tbh - Baxter strikes me in the same kinda mould as McCall in that they build a long term squad/production line/gameplan - international coaches (or, more specifically, England coaches) need to be more about the instant impact and short turnarounds
Could see Baxter doing well as head of development in the RFU or something, but not specifically as head coach where he gets a few weeks, every few months, to work with players

I would normally agree, like post last world cup when the talent was there and it just needed a top coach with experience to fnish it of. This to me feels like it needs a proper rebuild.

Tbh dont even know who could sort this mess out.

Literally Edwards would be perfect right now, England predictably s*** Theo Dan & Smith at least looked lively and if anyone had half supported them properly may well have made something of it. Atleast the scoreline wasn't as bad as I had thought, thankfully Ireland didn't go above 3rd gear.

Would be interested to see smith get more time at 15, at international level having a ton of space in front of him could be interesting. High ball and defense might be ugly though.

Being on smith and Care and there was a little bit of interest in pace from England…. So slow and laboured all game, bit too easily sucked in to the Irish forwards before being found lacking out wide.

I think Farrell brings energy to the team, unfortunately it's only going to give you so much and obviously he isn't playing at the minute. It strikes me as either the plan is wrong from the coaches or the players can't implement it. Something isn't working in the England camp and the team are not getting excited about playing.

Or... it could be both, a **** game plan and trying to fit square pegs in round holes in terms of player skillsets.
