@ hjklhjkl lol, I can tell how much this women's team means to you...

Just enjoying the World Cup.

Have you noticed the Aussies are kicking to the French back three?

nope, I'm on and off. Haven't seen it since, but both teams are playing high level Rugby atm. Was that our starting tighthead that went out injured ? Damn, our girls got scrum !

We're hardly recognizable so far. Losing all our balls, unforced mistakes. Shaky, shaky start. I reckon we'll start clicking soon enough, and have shown enough promise for this game that when our shiit gets pulled together we'll put AUS under lots of pressure.

Yeah it was. :(

Game is fantastic. Nice and open. Pace is really high... Aussies attacking loads, French Defence is huge.

Ahh...yellow wut ?? I feel ze first try coming...(for us, of course).

FFS France, SCORE THAT TRYYYYYYYY !!!! Throw it wide and finish this daaaamn play off !!! Stop it with the forwards !

Agricole has been absolutely brilliant tonight.

10 of the tournament so far.

except for her goal kicking overall. And man, that third try JUST - WOULD - NOT - COME for France. We had a million chances...eh, the girls obviously looked like they understood they didn't need a bonus point and would be 1st seed in the WC regardless if they only just won the game. They never looked to go wide, they just overpowered the Aussies, it was just a one-dimensional bashing, job done. After every single scrum, no.8 N'Diaye would come off the back of the scrum and go into the blind side, every single time. Like 4 times in a row at a point. Simple tactics were given before the game, play territory kicking and overpower them *****es.

Have to say Canada England was absolutely epic. Enjoyed every minute of it

Yes but with little success, and kicking out of defence means pressure from the opposition, but apart from one fumble the catches were clean and the counter attacks good, thank you Aussies for giving us so much attacking ball. The defence was excellent and the way the forwards dominated upfront, will give them a massive stepping stone to progress to the final although Canada are not a walk over they proved that against England and if the truth is known they should have won that match.
Bravo les filles a lesson to maybe their male counterparts, on how to play rugby. Yes there were mistakes but they took the pressure in the first half and the 2nd the Aussies were dead on there feet in the second, a few bad choices near the line with too may girls getting white line fever, but can you blame them this is their World Cup. I 'm sure if they win it the Montpellier girls will be doing a lap of honour at our game against Grenoble. Alll set for a semi on Wed, already only 7,000 tickets unsold for Jean Bouin but still selling fast, and the final is more or less a sell out which will make a great atmosphere even yesterdays mach there was over 6,000

I thought France were exceptional last night but I still think you're back three struggled at times, don't agree their counter attacking was good and they frequently stopped well behind the gain line, passed into touch, and so on... the pack saved them on a couple of occasions, I expect Canada to do a lot more damage with the kick chase especially with Harvey on the wing who's looking like the right wing of the tournament. I would also say that the Aussies showed if you move the ball quickly they don't like chasing it, and they really didn't like getting turned so tactical kicking is going to have to come into it.

These are very small things in an otherwise excellent performance, and that pack is genuinely proving to be something special... i don't see anyone being able to live up to that pack once it gets on top and they have been the most consitent 1-10 in the tournament so far. I think the cup is theirs to lose at the moment.

Still, if i was making a world cup 15 for the pool stages there'd be a hell of a lot of french girls in there.

BTW Gaston, do you know what Lionel Beauxis connection with the team is? He was there last night, and has a family member in the squad, but i'm not sure who.

It's great the tickets are selling, i have 3 tickets for the final next Sunday, just need to go and collect them from the local Cora as postage was 6e a ticket.

Yes he is married to the girl exceptionally good looking blode who was doing the comentary with Lartot she had to give up playing this season becauce of several concussions,
Marie Alice Yahe (Perpignan) (38 caps)
Half of French rugby's "golden couple" (with Lionel Beauxis), "Malice" became captain in 2011. Her father played, and Yahe was introduced to the game by a brother "who needed someone to throw the ball back". Originally a sprinter and pole-vaulter, her rugby talent was spotted in 2001 when by chance she attended a rugby session at her school where the regional technical advisor (later French men's team asst. coach) Didier Retière was present. She could pass both ways, knew the rules, and was signed up to play for the college on the spot. Within seven years she was playing for France.

gaston: I agree Canada are good, and reiterate they're a joy to watch, but disagree they "should've won that game" against the Anglaises. They both "should've won" it as both had enormous chances that had them look like the dominant side. They're both good, but neither I think is scary, which is good for France but let's not sing praises quite yet. We're first world wide going into those semis, and France usually doesn't like that tag, they usually enjoy the opposite one. But those girls look solid and too focused atm, so I have hope they'll show consistency and can raise their level collectively.
And I agree les Bleues could teach les Bleus (men) a thing or two !!! in fact they could teach them 5 things or 6...

GN10: yes as gaston said, ex-captain cutie Yahé (who had to stop completely some months ago her doc told her, poor thing...) is married to Beauxis. That's why you see Beauxis involved with women's Rugby and is in the stands.

Now Canada's strength is ball in hand, and I'm not sure their kicking game will be up to level to offput France.
I quote you:
"Aussies showed if you move the ball quickly they don't like chasing it, and they really didn't like getting turned so tactical kicking is going to have to come into it."

Well obviously the gameplan was PACK PACK PACK against AUS and France constantly committed to the bdown the whole game, on defense for France that created spaces for the Aussie backline so that's why we saw them deploy out wide. France has shown they can shut down wider attacks in previous games and I think they'll find a fine balance against Canada and might be a little less pack-oriented.

I think I'm the only one who didn't think France were "excellent", although the pack was doing very well obviously. France made almost no effort to let their backs play at all and relied utterly one-dimensionally on their pack and always went the same way against the Aussies. N'Diaye off the base of the scrum, big ball carriers colliding, ruck, one pass, ruck, one pass ruck...they played an obviously one-dimensional game that involved force, and the precision was very shaky at best.
We need to see more than mauls and scrums eventually, although maybe that'll be enough against the Canadiennes.
