IRB Junior World Championships

I've mixed views on the selection policy. On the one hand, some players are being flogged. On the other hand, are their potential replacements (players like Conor Carey, Alex Kelly and Shane Buckley) ever likely to make it as professional players? I doubt it so why waste time picking them.

Disappointing result for us considering we gave them a good game last week. Hopefully we can end on a high.

The New Zealand Under 20 team to play in the Final is:

1 Solomona Sakalia Wellington
2 Codie Taylor Canterbury
3 Ben Tameifuna Hawke's Bay
4 Steven Luatua Auckland
5 Brodie Rettalick Hawke's Bay
6 Brad Shields Wellington
7 Sam Cane Bay of Plenty
8 Luke Whitelock, captain Canterbury
9 TJ Perenara Wellington
10 Gareth Anscombe Auckland
11 Charles Piutau Auckland
12 Lima Sopoaga Wellington
13 Francis Saili Auckland
14 Mitchell Scott Tasman
15 Beauden Barrett Taranaki

16 Sefo Setefano Waikato
17 Michael Kainga Wellington
18 Dominic Bird Canterbury
19 Carl Axtens Bay of Plenty
20 Brad Weber Otago
21 Rhys Llewellyn Canterbury
22 Waisake Naholo Taranaki

I'm looking forward to seeing who will be under 20 player of the year.

Anyone know if the Wales v Ireland match tomorrow is being televised anywhere? S4C televised the three Welsh group games, but I couldn't find the Wales v Fiji match anywhere, and I can't see any mention of the match tomorrow on tv listings.

Very predictable lineup. I'm assuming Robertson is out injured seeing as he hasn't even been included on the bench. Mitchell Scott certainly looks to have plenty of pace on the wing, but he did miss a couple a couple of tackles last time he started.

Should be a good match, as the England looks to be a good unit. Not only do they have a strong forward pack, but with the likes Ford, Farrell, and Ransom they certainly have plenty of talent in the backline as well. I'm picking New Zealand to win, but I expect it will be a pretty close match.

Australia currently winning 7-3 (against France). Faingaa is pretty much doing it all for us, just set up a try in the backs.

Aaaaaaand we lose to Wales as well... Very disappointing tournament having guys with Magners experience looking fairly ordinary alongside other under 20 players. Only Conway seems to have made an impact who looks like a player with the x factor. Will be interesting to see how England fair against a New Zealand team full of cyborgs.

The Ireland team which lost to Wales:
Andrew Conway (Blankrock/Leinster); Craig Gilroy (Dungannon/Ulster), Alex Kelly (UCD/Leinster), JJ Hanrahan (UL Bohemians/Munster), Andrew Boyle (UCD/Leinster); James McKinney (Queen's University/Ulster), Kieran Marmion (UWIC/Exile); Finlay Bealham (Belfast Harlequins/Ulster), David Doyle (UCD/Leinster), Tadhg Furlong (Clontarf/Leinster), Daniel Qualter (Buccaneers/Connacht), Iain Henderson (Queen's University/Ulster), Shane Buckley (Garryowen/Munster), Aaron Conneely (Galway Corinthians/Connacht), Jordi Murphy (Lansdowne/Leinster) (capt).

If Kelly, Boyle, Marmion, Bealham, Doyle, Qualter, Henderson, Buckley and Conneely make it as pro players I'll be surprised. McKinney and Murphy look like potential provincial squad players but little more. That leaves Conway, Gilroy, Hanrahan and Furlong as the only good prospects in that team. I'd be more interested in how they played than the result of the game against Wales.

England draw first blood with a try from Wade :D

Got to say, I think that his foot grazed the touchline on the run in, but it hasn't gone to the TMO

7 - 0!

Anyone else getting a video error on the irb website trying to watch the Eng v NZ game? Not sure if it's them or something playing up with my browser.

It's blocked for people watching in the UK/Ireland/New Zealand as the rights have been sold to TV channels in those countries

********, 8-7, conversion to come. We need to kick less and create space for our back 3 more.

England need to sort their lineout

7 - 10 behind now, after a try from NZ which came from a lineout

25mins of dominance by England and barely anything to show for it...

20-10. Slightly griped about that really. We've had the chances and should be closer.

edit: Maybe if we kept the ball in hand and stopped kicking for territory it would happen.

Yeah that happened to me last week. But i'm watching the New Zealand - England game now. Try clearing your browser like the cache and stuff then restart your computer or something.
