I need some crazy/ fun/ insane World Cup quick facts

Except in 2003...

Are we just making up 'facts' now?
sounds fun ;)

South africa has never lost a game in the finals

Scotland achieved more in the world cup then Ireland.

Welsh lock Huw Richards was the first to get a red card, while playing against New Zealand in 1987

Interesting fact: Working out the BMI of rugby players, especially props, is hilarious. Mako Vunipola's is over 40, if I remember correctly. Dan Cole's rests around 31. Jonah Lomu's is nearly identical.

How is that related to the World Cup? Ummm, many of these players have played at RWCs...

Two time champions South Africa did not compete in 1987 and 1991 world cups. Hence it would make them the most successful nation in RWC history in terms of % of RWC cups to RWC compete tournament participation ratio.

This is true. If we win this one (big IF, I know) we'll be at 50%.

In 2007 South Africa won their first tournament without food poisoning their opposition.

Teams from the Southern Hemisphere have won 600% more RWCs than the Northern Hemisphere.

Nothing controversial has ever happened in an All Black RWC win.

I'm off to bed. Night guys.

Tallest / shortest / heaviest / lightest always make for good "fun facts". I'm not sure of any of the answers but I'm sure someone will chime in. Richard Metcalf (assuming he played in an RWC) would be the tallest, there's a Portuguese scrum half half who might have been the shortest. Heaviest, probably Bill Cavubati.

Didn't Austrailia make Finals in '99 and '03
My bad I thought I doubled checked it.

Stormer....yeah I'm not going by a SA opinion on that one your just as biased as me. You also know had that try counted and been converted (we has Wilkinson it's a reasonable assumption) England would of taken the lead of the match even only marginally that would of made a huge difference to how they rest played out.

the excuses coming in again, even though this happened 20 years ago, and since then New Zealand has won as much world's cup as South Africa.

Where's the line between fact and excuse? You do realize Jeff Wilson is clearly visible on camera throwing up? Whether it was deliberate food poisoning or not is the real debate, but it will never be resolved unfortunately, unless one day someone miraculously comes clean.

Also I can remember the Semi-Final. SA vs France, even as a child, the disallowed try that would have put France through. This was the biggest injustice of the tournament.

It was only a matter of time before it got into points scoring I guess! Sadly none of the xenophobic boasts that come to mind are particularly crazy / fun / insane (not many / any of those already trotted out are in particular)!

I didn't watch the game so i didn't see anything

There's already one thread for this. I agree that it will never be resolved, so what it to be gained by certain people continually bringing it up?

Thinking about it, it has been resolved, TRF_nickdnz tells us that the ABs were food poisoned by South Africa, so maybe he can explain how he knows this and put the matter to bed once and for all!

As I alluded to in the most recent thread on this, surely the team doctor or other medics in attendance would have been able to at very least diagnose the cause of the problem. Goldie being sick proves nothing in itself - watch Living With The Lions - there's one player who can be heard doing the same before every match.

Well given the circumstances, timing, magnitude and importance of winning for SA, it's only normal for fans of the losing Nation to feel like it was a conspiracy and people will speak like it's a fact when the wrong buttons are pushed. Nick was just saying it in tongue in cheek fashion, since the South African posted a largely, blatant incorrect fact with a subtle dig towards the All Blacks, so I wouldn't exactly be calling him out for coming up with a fair response. In this case, his comment/joke is justified.

New Zealand were the only team to go undefeated in the 2010 World Cup. Wrong shaped ball I know, but it's one of my favourite fun trivia facts like this!

New Zealand were the only team to go undefeated in the 2010 World Cup.

Namibia were the only team to go undefeated in the 2009 World Cup and Japan were the only team to go undefeated in the 2008 World Cup too.

South Africa became the first team to win the World Cup 3 times in 2015.
