I need some crazy/ fun/ insane World Cup quick facts

In the 1995 World Cup, The All Blacks recorded the largest WC winning margin with a 145 - 17 win against Japan, this included 21 tries and 6 alone from Marc Ellis. It also was a record for conversions with 20 from Simon Culhane.

Ireland, a country with a serious chance of winning the 2015 RWC and easily a top 4 favourite, probably a top 2 favourite, has never beaten the All Blacks.

Brian Lima from Samoa is the only players to have played in 5 World Cups, 1991-2007.

Bryan Habana and Jonah Lomu are the only players to score 8 tries in a RWC.

Francois Steyn is the youngest person ever to win a RWC aged 20.

New Zealand have never lost a game in pool play.

France is the only team to have lost two games in pool play and make a final.

Namibia have entered four World Cups and have never won a game.

The first try ever scored in a RWC was a penalty try - the first try scored by a player was by Michael Jones, NZ v Italy in 1987

In the 1987 final, Grant Fox became the last player in International rugby to score a dropped goal from a free kick. The Law was changed the follow year to prevent this.

The home team has won the final Nearly half the time the tournament is run (3 out of 7). The most successful team to win when it hasn't hosted the tournament is Australia when it won it in 1991 and 1999. England won it once in Australia in 2003, and South Africa won it in France in 2007.

No side as ever successfully defended their title from one RWC to the next, and the current holders (New Zealand), have never won it when they haven't been hosting the Tournament.

France is the only team to have played in a final without ever winning one... and they have done that three times.

Whilst no team has sucessfully defended their title England are the only team to have played in consecutive finals.

They were millimeters away from doing so I still can't decide if Cueto was in touch or not.

Australia beat Namibia in 2003 142 - 0 surpassing NZ's victory against Japan in 1995

On points differential and tries scored (by one try) - not on total points.

As mentioned - Marc Ellis holds the record for most tries in a RWC match with 6, vs Japan in 1995.

Diego Ormaechea is the oldest player to play in a RWC at the age of 40.

Five players from the Australian 1991 World Cup went on to win the 1999 world cup in John Ealses, Dan Crowley, Tim Horan, Phil Kearns and Jason Little.

Os du Randt from South Africa won two World Cups in 1995 and 2007 - an astonishing 12 years between World Cups.

There have only been three draws in the competition's history - two of which have been Canada vs Japan in 2007 and 2011.

I'm pretty sure this stat is true, correct me if i'm wrong.

Chris Paterson is the only player to have never miss a kick at goal in a single world cup tournament. This was achieved during the 2007 rugby world cup.

The All Blacks will become the first team to win successive World Cups this year. ;)

Let me help: he was out. Not that it'd matter anyway as we won by 9.

Coincidentally that is the 3rd highest differential in RWC finals and the highest against a team other than France. The highest being Aus trouncing France 35-12 (23) in 1999 and NZ beating France in 1987 by 29-9 (20) in the only blow-out finals and the closest being NZ lucky to get past France 8-7 (1) in 2011. So, yeah France have featured big in RWCs despite not winning it yet.

Most points overall is Wilkinson on 277 in his RWC career.
Grant Fox has the most points in a single tournament with 127 points.
Paul Williams (Samoa vs SA) and Sam Warburton (Wales vs France) are the only players to recieve red cards in RWCs, both in 2011.
SA has the highest 'strike rate' in winning RWCs having won 2 in 5 attempts.

Technically true since cards weren't introduced until 1996, but they are not the only players to be sent off in a RWC match. There was a Wallabies player (David Codey) sent off in the bronze match v Wales in 1987.
