HEC: Racing Metro - Cardiff Blues (11-11-2011)

Really good win for the Blues against the moneybags of Paris. Superb stuff.

Great win for the Blues. Set them up well for the group now. Tom James appeared to have an excellent game.

It has to be said that Racing were terrible. Simply dire. Regardless, Cardiff got 4 points in a match where many expected none.
Certainly changes things in the pool (not really, it's only just started)

Cuthbert was pretty good. Best bet for our 11 in the Six Nations.
Tom James and Czekaj were typical, moments of genius and moments of stupidity. If Czekaj had a decent pair of hands he would be a very good outside back.

Good win for Blues, but what a rubbish match!
Wish I'd watched the Quins match instead, now

No way. He had a good game, but he still looks to me like a poor man's George North. The use of the word 'poor' is slightly harsh, as he's obviously a good player, but nowhere near there yet, I'd rather see a back three of Stoddart, Halfpenny and North. (Provided Stodds is fit.)

Agree about Cuthbert but disagree about Stoddart. I think it may be worth giving Tom James a run in the Wales shirt. He has looked to have more of a rugby brain on him this season and has played well for the Blues.

Tom James has always had all the physical atributes to be a very good player. It's taking time for him to develop a rugby brain, but that was always gonna be the case considering how late he started playing the game. He just needs to concentrate on keeping things simple, and not make silly errors. He showed just how dangerous he can be tonight, shwoing excellent pace, guile and strength on many occasions.

Tom James would be worth a shot as well. I would think it is unlikely that Stoddart is fit, but I certainly hope so.
James looked best when he was just able to run, and not try to force anything. Needs better supporting runners, there could have been a few more tries.
Cuthbert is coming along in XV's very well so far. If he can keep it up I can see him in a Welsh shirt by the Australian tour.

Once Halfpenny comes back (probably to fullback) that will be a very nice back three the Blues can field.
How about this? Williams, Henson, James, Roberts, Laulala, Cuthbert, Halfpenny. Rees, Parks, and Czekaj on the bench- not too bad!

Great win for the Blues here and should set them up to qualify. They just need to keep their heads and make sure they take it one game at a time.

Tom James was at his best in attack, but did you see his missed tackle on Imhoff for the Racing try? his defence needs to improve as well, but good to hear he's working on his rugby brain, but I still haven't seen him finish difficult finishes like Shane always has done and Cuthbert did tonight

his mouth has probably put him well back in the Wales pecking order anyway

This.

Aha - I thought it was sarcasm as I remember him walking out of the Wales team, but not apologising for it :p

Good result there! in france, nice start....wish I had a punt on it now, looking at the odds.
