HEC: Northampton Saints - Llanelli Scarlets (18-11-2011, 20:00)

Tom May was the obvious replacement for Foden at fullback (notwithstanding Diggin is fit and Tonks is allegedly a fullback). Pisi was utter garbage, I don't recall him doing much if anything right all night.

Also showed in the scrum how much they're missing Day in the boiler room. Sorrenson offers pretty much ****-all.

Truth of the matter is Saints weren't allowed to play because Scarlets didn't let them. A couple of lucky bounces etc. (or a bad couple of calls - e.g. forward then offside for the try - not being missed) and maybe the result could have been reversed, but Scarlets were good value for their win. They should be more worried that they allowed Saints back into the game and could have bombed such a good performance late on to a team playing so flacid. No way did Saints deserve the LBP.

BP win over Castres at home, beat Castres there. Turn over Munster at FG and the Scarlets at PyS, denying both sides BPs and get a TBP against the Scarlets might give you a chance.
Turks are not guaranteed a win in Castres or in either Munster fixtures.

That'll never happen this season. They ain't playing there!

If that was them with nothing in the boiler room then Scarlets must be bloody happy that Sorrenson wasn't there

I was thinking May should have started at 15, but I couldn't remember if he'd played there before (and his wikipedia said Centre/Wing/Flyhalf) - Think he should've been involved somewhere though, got a wealth of experience and is a classy player

Yes he was, he started at 5 and was replaced by Samu Manoa in the 65th.

My mistake :p
Didn't really see much of the match, I get what you mean now though

but the scrum was still very dominant, another referee would have probably given a lot more penalties from it

I thought they looked pretty limp at the time. I shall not be watching a replay any time soon to change that!

They weren't always that dominant, quite often Tonga'uiha completely failed to bind.

Priestland was immense, but Gareth Davies really impressed me considering he was playing with the weaker scrum. Matt Gilbert is one to keep an eye on as well, did I hear right that he's deaf???

What?

Careful now...

Yeah, he has played for England deaf. Looked very good, and will add further competition to the Scarlets back row (bet they wish they had this situation for second rows).
Anyone else think that Knoyle is almost the worst of the Scarlet scrum halves now? Williams was impressive when he came on, and I agree with you on Gareth Davies. Can't forget Aled Davies either.
How about the Scarlets trade a scrumhalf for Ian Evans?
