HEC: Northampton Saints - Llanelli Scarlets (18-11-2011, 20:00)

Typical case of play the whistle there, pathetic by Ashton. Very opportunistic win, crazy match. Saints can kiss this years HEC goodbye their not coming back from this.

Saints no way near at it, not lost at home since 2007 and fans walking out.

Mallinders odds for the England jobing going up. Be interesting to see his views after this shambles

Fare play to Scarlets they were the only team up for it, and we look lost. They deserve to win this.

WTF was Ashton doing?
Given the Scarlets five on the table and seven on the board.

Scarlets made life difficult for themselves their but still a great match and it's hard to see Northampton not losing an other match in that group. I hope Scarlets push on and win the group.

What a game, what a result for the Scarlets and Priestland, what a player! Scarlets deserved the win. They could've scored more if weren't for a couple of handling errors. Only negative: injury to North - hope he's okay.

Da iawn hogiau!

Saints made too many mistakes and Llanelli didn't give them an inch. Priestlands kicking caused havoc in the Saints defense.

Good to see the ref wasn't fooled by Northamptons scrum tactics although they (ref and linesmen) missed Tonga'Uiha missing his bind all night.

Well done to Scarlets looks like we will need Munster to do us a few favours and beat Scarlets twice at least, and we have to beat them away.

Might make it but iv'e not sat and worked out the math yet.

YEEEEEESSSSS!!!!!! :D Nice work boys! 7/7 for Welsh teams in Europe, just you watch the Ospreys cocking it up now:p Sorry couldn't resist having a go at them;)

Have to say that yellow card was a joke though.

BP win over Castres at home, beat Castres there. Turn over Munster at FG and the Scarlets at PyS, denying both sides BPs and get a TBP against the Scarlets might give you a chance.
Turks are not guaranteed a win in Castres or in either Munster fixtures.

Great win for the Scarlets. Northampton weren't great though, with Pisi and Ashton both pathetic is pretty much everything they did. Priestland ran the show tonight, he's really evolving as a player, and is having a big impact for the Scarlets and Wales. With a few players to come into the pack, the Scarlets are looking good at the moment, but will need to up their game again in the double header v Munster, but with confidence flying high, and an ability to score try's for fun, they're a hugely dangerous team.

Awesome!

What position were they playing Pisi at?

He started at Fullback as Ben Foden pulled out due to not passing a late fitness test after a knock picked up last week

Fullback? He never played at full back for the Manu from memory. Only ever seen him play at First five and Inside center.

Wrong Pisi. George played a lot of fullback early on but he has put too much weight on and is really only a 13 now

Doh! Didnt know George is with the Saints.

Tusi is with the Hurricanes now ey ranger?

Yeah man, looking forward to it. Tusi really should have been given a go at the canes ages ago when Howell left, time to prove he deserved that spot!

Jim Mallinder states the bloody obvious we just came out and played badly, no really Sherlock

Can't see Saints getting out of their group after this. PRetty silly selection by Mallinder - why play a 13 at 15? And why not put Myler on for Pisi when it was obvious he couldn't handle it at half time (at least Myler can catch and kick). Ashton had a complete shocker as well. In general they just didn't have any penetrative power as well. Tom May should have been in the centres for either DOwney or Clarke imo.
