People got to get out of their heads that Be A Pro Mode will be in the game or in the game future, it will be tough to implement and its only something thats been implemented in more recent Madden's for instance and FIFA, and those have a bigger budget than the Rugby game HB are producing. People can expect what they want but its not realistic. This game will have the basics and from there will go on in future series. Take FIFA / Madden etc ... did they have Be A Pro Mode / Superstart Mode in the first game they made?

Be a pro in a rugby game would be bloody boring anyway:

Props: Scrum - Button mash. Rest of the time - Slowly trundle round after the ball
Hooker: Scrum - as props with hooking!
Lock: Jump and trundle around
Flanker: Tackle every now and again and trundle around otherwise. Get sin-binned a lot.
SH: Follow the ball around. Pass it and wait for the AI to cock it up
FH: Wait forever for the ball. Kick it/pass it when you *eventually* get in then wait for the AI to **** it up. Tackle nothing.
Centres: Plenty to tackle. Put the ball through the hands and let the winger drop it.
Winger: Drop the ball every now and again. Stand around doing nothing for the rest. For added realism, play in paddling pool with a big fan blowing a gale down on you, for that extra miserable feeling.
Fullback: As the wing, with the addition of catching the occasional high ball and missing the odd last tackle.

What a joke!!! Be-a-pro would be awesome!!! especially if you could play it co-operatively. Half-back or First-five would probably be the most appealing to people who aren't that into Rugby but i would love to play as a Tight-head (dominating your opposing player) or as a Lock... there's alot more to being a lock than jumping at the lineouts.

Be-a-pro would be way better in a rugby/rugby league game than Fifa by a mile!!!

Be a pro isnt workable/affordable right now, but you can't argue that its impossible to make it enjoyable if it could be done..

Firstly this isnt the first rugby game produced by EA, or an EA associate. Secondly the programming, know how and mechanics of a Be A Pro mode should be accessible to HB as they've done it before in other media, so they wont be incurring the costs of inventing it for the first time. Thirdly, if they dont include a forward step like including a Be a Pro Mode then it'll be just like all the other Rugby Games and therefore of reduced appeal. What will keep you playing season after season in the game? FA! To those who think that a Be A Pro Mode would be boring/limited, look at NFL Madden.....the Be a Pro Mode is the best part ffs!

Thirdly: If the franchise is successful, they don't want you playing the same game season after season. Thyey'll want you to buy this one, then buy the next one. Then the one after that,

even if it has nothing to do with EA, i really don't see any other publisher more willing to put the game on the market. After all, considering the expenses, HB is EA's studio.

I can only assume that most of the people on here wanting Be a pro have never actually played a game of rugby.
Half the things all forwards do would be boring on a game: Guarding a ruck, securing the ball at the ruck, walking (slowely) to a scrum/line out, making 3 runs a game maybe, tackling a few times, then it's more positioning than anything else. I just can't see anyone thinking it through sensibly, rugby is a team game and for a team to do well everyone has to do there job. I think people forget that fiffa is football and not rugby, it's completely different.

Oh and if you want to play one player, start actaully playing rugby!

All I can say is as long as the gameplay and overall graphics are overall improved I won't mind too much that there isn't a manager mode (Although I was surprised) I just want a good rugby game where I won't get bored after 20mins doing the same thing on 08. Please make it harder!

The split between the two camps in this thread is obvious. There are those that wish for a great many things from this game (e.g. Be A Pro, Career mode, etc.) and those who wish for everyone to be happy with a mediocre/lacklustre minor improvement over previous EA Rugby Games (2008 and so on). Perhaps the hopes and requests of the first camp are something to intially baulk at, in terms of time, effort and money that may have to be spent above that of mediocre development. However, what you should all appreciate is that if you set goals low, you get poor products (this is symptomatic of British industry i might add). HB in this case, but all businesses, governments, and dare i say it 'students' (ych a fy!) need to be pushed to produce more than they set out to at all times. Therefore people who are posting on this thread asking HB to include more than just a basic rugby tournament in this game have every right to do so, and are in fact in the right. The detractors who wish for the status quo will achieve little. Stop the One-Eyed Views and Thought processes please....this is not Llanelli....or even Aberystwyth for that matter!
