Have Ireland ever beaten South Africa in South Africa and can anybody tell me why South Africa always seem to play Ireland in Ireland?

irelnd played two tests againt south africa in south africa a couple of years ago
erm the probaly dont play them as often as there out of the way (geographicly) if a home nation doe a tour they usaly play more than one nation and south africa is by itself while the pacific islands new zealand and austraila are resonably close also explain wh we dont tour argentina much

if its a world cup year or lions canada usa are close

Thanks for the info! So is that the only 2 times they have played in SA? It should be rotated especially in the modern era where home ground advantage is huge!

i think there the only two away games in the professinal era ireland lost both
there probaly is some system that the unions use to decide who tours where but i dont know of it

Maybe Ireland, Scotland etc should tour more often. It can only benefit the teams touring especially in World Cups which are generally played away from home! Maybe that is why the SH teams have got better records in WC. They are used to playing away from home!

the northern sides always tour in the summer just its more likley to be austraila and new zealand (through in a barbrian side some maoris)

or for example during the lions tour ireland (effectivly ireland a ) did usa and canada

You have to go and spoil a nice chat don't you. I could rub your dirty little nose in the dirt with the SA record. Rather funny actually, no wins on SA soil, lol! You are gonna have to change the "King" ***le to "Peasant" sooner rather than later. SBW is gonna eat ya!

"I WILL rub your dirty little nose in the dirt..."

All levity aside, this "nice chat" I've "spoiled" supposedly was never more than an unsubtle attempt to highlight Ireland's poor record against SA. Don't pretend the original intention of the thread wasn't to rub our noses in it in the first place.

Have the All Blacks won a world cup in the last 20 years?

Not quite sure that that's called for, or relevant to the thread - Cooky's just answering the question posed by the thread.

It seems that Ireland has won as many games against the Boks in South Africa as Scotland, which is none ... Scotland have played them 5 times in South Africa and lost all of them

@durbutter
Wahey, getting a little touchy there aren't we ?

It's a fair question, and to be honest I thought Ireland had beaten us at home before, now I know they haven't, so to me at least that post was helpful.

Also, I agree that it would be nice to have Ireland play us over here every once in a while, obviously the fact that it would make it a bit more fair (since we keep heading off over there, you should come join us in the sun every once in a while), but also because the games seem to be pretty tight affairs (which would make some great rugby a bit more accessible to us over here, since flying to Ireland is kinda expensive and all that).

Agreed, it doesn't rain here that much :p Ah we still love you Irish guys, don't be so hard on savagelesbian (nice one there, mind if I borrow it?) it's hard having an identity crisis.

Don't be nasty to the All Blacks either, it's not their fault they have a choking curse... I jest!

 I take your comment in the spirit that it's intended (in jest) ... and counter with how many WC finals have the All Blacks lost at Eden Park, Auckland :D

Realistically, I don't think Ireland will be beating any tri nations side away from home for a long time yet. We just don't have enough high quality players.

Theres some good quality young players coming through and theres more and more coming every year but it'll be years before Ireland will be at a level to be a genuine threat to tri nations teams away from home. About 5 - 8 years I reckon. Until then the tri nations should continue to beat Ireland.
