I say another, because this is far from being the first case of this kind. It is striking that, though the mothers always attempt suicide, they never actually die. It's gotten so bad that when I heard it on the radio I found myself wondering how she had killed them. In this case, she suffocated her kids with a cushion, but there have also been women who drowned their kids in the tub, and one woman who killed all her children (I believe she had 5 or 6, aged between 1 and 13) by stabbing them while they were sleeping.

I actually meant, his personal property, the land he owns and the farm on it. Things like that would be taken away and divided among everyone but the white people. But I don't know if it's true, it doesn't seem very logical to me. Bit too communistic for that matter.

on a serious note, yep this crime was horrific but its not specific to SA. We get stories quite frequently of honour killings; muslim/ hindu/ sikh women who get slewed by their father/ brothers for disgracing the family by 1) marrying a white guy or 2) being 'unpure' before marriage... and then there's the stories of torso's turning up in the Thames cos some Congolese witch doctor has sacrificed them.

Basically the problem is that the values we hold (liberal, life is sacred etc.) are not consistent with some other people's value systems. They may not think they're doing anything wrong but by our standards its heinous. Though this is one of the issues I think Western Morality has right, and should be imposed on the rest of the world...
