A Political Thread pt. 2

It's not debatable, slashing the fuel payment,
It's not debatable, slashing benefits for disabled people, winter payments for the old, and refusing to allow charities to be exempt from the NI uptake is a clear message the poor have to pay for both GB energy and nationalisation of transport. They couldn't be more clear if they stated it outright!
There's probably a reason I meet more progressive liberals in Cambridge and Oxford. Not so much in Hull, Grimsby etc.

I mean without trying to get too much into it that more an education thing right? Like most educated people know something like Brexit was a ******* stupid idea. You can convince people lesser educated that simplistic ideas without much scrutiny are in their benefit. This unfortunately is just the truth I wish people would engage more with world around them and understand it complexities. But they don't and I remember 70% of the kids I went to school with.

I've said many times trying to convince people something is complex and give them answers that aren't simple soundbites is bloody hard. Wish someone had good answers to that one.

(Not that I would say much about Oxford Cambridge in terms of the people whongo there, most top end true upper middle class people and upper class people ie the uber wealthy that I've met really aren't socially progressive at all).

I don't disagree that they are bad ideas...
This is where you are foolish.

The fuel payment sorry many many pensioners don't need it, it should ofnalways been for those on state pensions and barely other means.

Paying forn GB Energy and Nationalisation of trbasporr? Those are are probably Labours only two good ideas.
If the most marginalised in society weren't being fed to the wolves to pay for them!

BTW the average weekly income for retired people is £267 per week...

Bloody hell, you agree with someone? Has hell just frozen over?
I've agreed with a huge amount of things, you lot are just so enraged by someone not affirming your emotions you don't see it hahahahah

See Rageys rant on the Afghan pull out, we agree on 90%, we only disagree on Biden doing something wrong, and Trump not being 100% at fault lol

On the whole...

What does that have to do with anything? Because they have paid off their debts they are worth less?!

People on benefits also don't have a mortgage to pay, should we just cull them too?
Well for starters you can still be means tested for fuel payments. And yes those who can afford their fuel payments shouldn't have it paid by the tax system. And mortage matters a lot its about you take home and if you don't have have one you take home substantially more than if you have to keep a roof over your head.

I don't think that controversial at all.

Which circles from the old to the young. Britain's obsession with home ownership and increasing house prices. People who are luckily enough to own there own home, and then be in a well paying enough jobs to afford it.

If you are young, live in London and the South East. Good luck owning your own home on a low paying job.

Good luck on a good middle income! I only have a house because my father pilfered his pension pot for the deposit. I then paid him back with the difference between my mortgage and what I was paying renting over 4 years.

And I consider myself lucky to be able to do that.

Oh shut up. You come on here deliberately to fall out with people then go and play the victim claiming it's everyone else being enraged and not you being an argumentive bell end. You're ******* boring

Britain's obsession with home ownership is justified imo. If you could charge for air, some oxygen thief would do it. This country is riddled with people charging for nothing and going the rental route like a lot of Europe does, wouldn't work as a result.

Your language is pretty vile, I don't want to call you a key board warrior but your actions aren't far off...

For someone in their 50s I'd expect a bit more maturity

Thisnisna bit misleading, I've been able to help a number of first time buyers in recent years. I've found that those with appropriate expectations are able to get on the ladder with ease.

Case in point, a 23 year old earning 24k per year, managed to save 7k and used that as a 10% deposit on a 70k flat just north of Cardiff. He rented out the 2nd room out for 500 per month and his mortgage was 400 per month...

Opportunity is there, I find those who complain about it are those who expect an average 3 bed 350k house on a minimum wage salary at 21 years old.
