Don't most of those players usually start for France? Although i'd have Medard in there for Traille.

I like the "B team"... Except for Traille (some people say he shouldn' move from 12, I say he shouldn't move from Biarritz), I like the squad. It's obviously not the best one, but here's my thoughts:
The front row is completely "alternative". Surely of those three props only one would be in a full strength math sheet, and wearing 17. Besides from that, I think it will be ok. Marconnet is a very efective scrummager and I admit I'm curious about Ducalcon. He hasn't been the best for France, but I think he can be very good. Probably these three guys are fighting for the last two spots, so it makes sense to try them out. Hookers... we all know it.
The locks

Back-row pretty strong 9-13 what I'd think is their strongest. Marconnet could be bad news for us depending on who's tighthead. Back-three good enough though Traille will probably boot everything good news for us. Parra will definately play next week now.

(Sorry, got posted by accident and can't edit)
The locks are the best three, though probably it will be Nallet starting and Millo on the bench.
The backrow is a mix of sure starters and an experiment. Glad to see Lakaf there, and it will be good for him to have experienced players, including one that plays every saturday with him.
The backline looks all right. Centers look good, Yachvili needs to be given a chance, same for Palisson. Again, Traille is the only problem I have with the squad.

Ireland by 10 if we put out our best team.

French team added to first post

What are they doing starting Traille at FB with Medard on the bench?!

They must be focusing on the Aviva match....

They used to start because of the injuries, but with the players currently available a France "A team" would look like that :

15. Heymans
14.Clerc
13. Marty (since Rougerie is still injured)
12. Mermoz
11. Medard
10. TD
9. Parra
8. Harinordoquy (tho I understand he wants to test Lakafia, it will be his first international game)
7. Bonnaire/Ouedraogo
6. Dusautoir
5. Millo-Chluski
4. Nallet
3. Ducalcon (because Domingo is injured)
2. Servat (tho, once again, I understand he wants to see Szarzewski)
1. Mas

There are too many players that have not play for ages at test level because of their injuries (Mermoz, Millo Chluski, Domingo), a number 8 who has never ever play a signle international rugby game, and then, there's Traille. Traille's best place is on the bench because he can cover any position in the backline. But he hasn't play for France nor Biarritz at fullback for more than 1 year. And we have Heymans, Medard and Palisson. These 3 guys are proper fullbacks.
I really struggle to understand Lievremont's choices.

Would you have presented a full-strength squad Aout? I agree with you about Traille, but the rest of the team looks like understandable selections in a warm-up game.

@ZeFrenchy

I'm convinced Nallet and Millo-Chluski are our best locks. They are by far the most powerful locks we have, they were there when we hammered the SA in 2009, and we really need guys that have huge impact when they carry the ball.

Apparently injury situations have been bad enough that Lievermont has had to take part in training.

Also can Mas play loosehead I only remember him as a tighthead.

(can't edit my post)

You're right it's only a warm up game, this is why it does make sense to start with players like Lakafia, Palisson or Marconnet. Lievremont wants to see if they are fit/good enough to play at a test level. But from what we've seen so far, they are not the best players at their respective positions.

I agree that Nallet and Millo-Chluski are the best French locks, I've always been confused by Lièvremont selecting Julien Pierre at lock when he isn't even first choice at his club (behind Privat and Cudmore)

O'Connell has lost kilos wow. Anyway when talking about ball carriers in the Ireland team after the backrow he said Mike Ross had being carring brilliantly in training.
