FIFA 09

Yes the graphics and framerate were the first things that were noticed when the download came out....however it was quickly pushed aside as a demo and generally people are assuming that the final version will be better graphically and framerate wise.

Interesting post from SaintsFan. I can't comment on it because I have not played the demo but I think everyone should make a judgement on the final version.....just hire it first lol!

Has anyone tried to see if the cheapskate techniques work on this version? (Halfway shots, triple taps, cutbacks, etc)

I agree with GG. The frame-rate issues will be associated with the relatively small file size of the demo. They really couldn't produce the full quality experience for 3/4 of a gigabyte. Last years Pro Evo demo was much bigger.

Despite that I still feel that there may be a fractional graphical trade-off from last years version. I think gameplay will be what wins the day for me anyhow.

Here's an article for the cynical among us, who've only played a PC demo.

Yeah GG, I scored a goal from half way, stupid goalie backed up too far into his goal when attempting the stop. Thankfully it is just a demo.

Good find Mr Iverson....too much time on your hands lol!

Well I was watching a few vids of the demo on youtube.

I really don't like the 8 directions. Actually I almost hate it.....the game looks retarded with these eight directions. Madden and Rugby are infinite directions...so Fifa should be too.

The programmers have said that the reason they do not want infinite directions is that it might be too much of an effort with the ball having so many touches...but I seriously disagree.

My idea would be to make the left stick fully analogue where it controls direction AND speed. Therefore fully moving a stick one way will get the player running to his maximum speed in that way. A slight movement of the stick in a direction gets less speed.

When a player has the ball then it is the balls direction that is being controlled. Tiny stick movement = tiny touches, big stick movement = big knocks...any 360 analogue direction. The body of the ball carrier does follow certain animations depending on where the player is relative to the ball at his feet...but the ball itself moves in true 360 movement.

Can you imagine how much control you would have with this system? You would have TRUE dribbling of the ball....every dribble would be controlled....small ones for a slow dribble....bigger knock aheads to run faster.....true choice of direction with each touch...one small touch in one direction than a big touch in the other.

The current speed button would then become the touch "disengager" button...which would mean you hold it down simultaneously when you move in a direction and the ball would be touched that way but you would NOT follow it. Just like REAL soccer where a lot of players tap the ball ahead of their feet before looking around and doing longer lobs upfield.

Anyway I am quite disappointed that the 8 directions STILL remain. That seriously is enough to make me see if PES 09 is going to go 360 analogue. If they do I WILL switch.

I think it was last year or the year before that FIFA released a demo that was actually better in a few aspects then the final version, so maybe this is a omen the opposite will happen this year.

Plus PC will always have a sub-par version so shouldn't be used as an indicator.

The 360 version of PES 09 is getting a special 32 direction dpad controller. Google for more info.

Interestingly, the release date (in the UK at least), has been brought forward a week - the UK will now get this on 26 September... good news![/b]

Its now gone back to the 3rd October!

Word has been spreading that the triple taps are not as effective as 08. People are saying that the defenders actually stretch out for the ball rather than watch with amazement as the ball goes whizzing past.

Well Craig....looks like one of your best strike weapons is now no more lol! Now all they have to do is make the cutbacks realistic to defend and then you will have no ammo ha! Nah jokes jokes...

Peace:)

**** it gets boring out in the wilderness... any who, been cranking Fifa 08 for last month or so, just got Fifa 09 demo (meh, going to wait for full version before passing judgement). Will be getting 360 version, although keen to join in any comps etc at a willing ps3 host's establishment wink wink nudge nudge, likes games, knew she would, awight?

Why did they include 10 v 10 multiplayer on the PS3 version? I wasn't aware that many had been sold... :p

should be out today in aussie
EB have stock
but i heard PES has bounced back, so i am unsure of what to do, reviews praise PES as the superior ***le this year

why not get both? and I doubt PES would have gotten rid of its lag issues. They aren't planning the "overghaul" until PES 2010

Out today? Good grief, you lot pick your games to get early!

I am toying with the idea of getting this because the demo was pretty good I have to say.

its very good am loving it. has arandom feel no goals r the same
but have seen issues.
keepers ruunning out to get loose ball, and doing nothing with it
off the ball on a ricochet ur ai controlled players are lost.
ball seems to float too much.
other that its class.....still unsure if this is better than EURO08 gameplay alone

Ooooooooooh ak taking the wind out FIFA's sails there. I'll definitely be giving this some thought. Patch fix territory maybe?

FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK!!!!
JUST GOT SCORED ON A BLATANT OFFSIDE!!!!!
HE WAS SO FAR DOWNFIELD ITS GOT TO A JOKE
IF THEY HAVE IMPLEMENTED REFEREE ERROR GOOD ON THEM-BUT THE COMMENTARY PICK IT UP
oh and how is this call "he only had the keeper to beat 1 on 1, what a terrible miss-yes u expect a player of his calabre to score in those situations"..............AFTER I DECIDED TO LAUNCH ONE FROM OWN HALF N WATCH IT SAIL LIKE BALOON INTO THE CARPARK,
its good but its got a big turd wich stinks

Thanks for the info AK. I will wait for the PES demo tomorrow and then decide on buying FIFA.
