Good find Mr Iverson....too much time on your hands lol!
Well I was watching a few vids of the demo on youtube.
I really don't like the 8 directions. Actually I almost hate it.....the game looks retarded with these eight directions. Madden and Rugby are infinite directions...so Fifa should be too.
The programmers have said that the reason they do not want infinite directions is that it might be too much of an effort with the ball having so many touches...but I seriously disagree.
My idea would be to make the left stick fully analogue where it controls direction AND speed. Therefore fully moving a stick one way will get the player running to his maximum speed in that way. A slight movement of the stick in a direction gets less speed.
When a player has the ball then it is the balls direction that is being controlled. Tiny stick movement = tiny touches, big stick movement = big knocks...any 360 analogue direction. The body of the ball carrier does follow certain animations depending on where the player is relative to the ball at his feet...but the ball itself moves in true 360 movement.
Can you imagine how much control you would have with this system? You would have TRUE dribbling of the ball....every dribble would be controlled....small ones for a slow dribble....bigger knock aheads to run faster.....true choice of direction with each touch...one small touch in one direction than a big touch in the other.
The current speed button would then become the touch "disengager" button...which would mean you hold it down simultaneously when you move in a direction and the ball would be touched that way but you would NOT follow it. Just like REAL soccer where a lot of players tap the ball ahead of their feet before looking around and doing longer lobs upfield.
Anyway I am quite disappointed that the 8 directions STILL remain. That seriously is enough to make me see if PES 09 is going to go 360 analogue. If they do I WILL switch.
