FIFA 09

Thats true Cymro. '09 looks to be 50% faster!

Dan, I hear PES was pretty bad online for PS3 too. I never got it, but heard that a bit.

It was terrible, absolutely appalling. I heard it was bad on PS3, but you could understand that to an extent as PSN is new, whereas Live has some sense of establishment. It was abysmal, it put me off playing it to be honest.

Sounds diabolical! From all accounts the next one is going to be soo much better anyhow. You'll be really looking forward to that then!

yep that means i should get rid of my 08 version real soon. get the most out if it than i can....

what price would i get for that does anyone think?

I saw an interview on "Good Game" with the head honcho of EA's EA Sports department. He mentioned that with the progression of online connectivity with it's increased speed, reliability, feature list and the culture of gamers pushing more and more toward gaming consoles, there will a decreasing level of availability for EA Sport games on the PC.

FIFA 08 on 360 was crap....they must bring back the "Broadcast" view. To play the game at a acceptable pace you had to have it really close. I sold it and went back to FIFA 06 on xbox! I would love to know what are the leagues for 09.

This is a statement everyone always makes. It's so unfair to say this. Yes, consoles take up 9 of the 10 Billion dollars the gaming industry makes (just random figures). But the console is the PSP, DS, PS2, PS3, XBOX 360, and Wii.

Thats 7 vs 1. If you look at each console separately, and then at the PC, figures dont look that bad now.... For some reason everyone always says "console vs PC'.... I highly doubt that Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft share profits. Oh well, guess it's an age old argument that will never end. I saw an interview once with the top guy at Valve. He said that Consoles will eventually be phased out completely...

I think PC and Console will carry on and on and on....

Back on Topic: Really glad to hear that the PC version is finally getting next Gen visuals. (With a lot more enhancements over the console versions) We have been suffering with crap ports forever!

ps3 and xbox is **** there crap and a new one is like brought out every 2 years so in 10 years you would of wasted over 1000 grand on just a crap console. Whilst with a decent pc at 300 it can last up to 5 years without slowing unlike the ps2 which brakes or w/e xbox red rings of death.

I never play console unless i play smackdown vs raw. Sport games are more ideal for the pc i think.

don't get me started on the wii whoever brought it are wrong minded its crap and just wastes money u should get refund.

You can mod games on pc and make maps and stuff which makes the community of that game last alot longer but with the console they get more tired of the game more quickly.

I totally agree...Fifa 08 was a backwards step. Hopefully they will have fixed up this speed bump in 09.

Kinda strange thing is, even though Fifa 08 seems to have hammered PES 2008 on most platforms, it's the opposite on the Wii. Konami really made PES fun to play with the Wii controls, and apparently the online play is almost flawless. Can't say I've actually tried it, because my Wii doesn't seem to get on with my wireless router... <_< Fifa 08 Wii wasn't really as good, you feel as if you have more control over what's happening with PES, and the online play had a lot of glitches apparently. What pretty much decided which one I was gonna get for my Wii was the fact that Fifa 08 Wii didn't have a Career mode (even though it did on the other platforms) so I went for PES 2008. Only problem is the lack of authenticity. If they improve Fifa 09 for the Wii, and put back the Career Mode, I'll probably get it - kinda sucks atm not being able to play as Cardiff City y'see :( .

Demo is now out on the Xbox 360 Marketplace and PS3 !!!

Oh my god, the speed of the game is immense, I love it! EA have listen to the the faults of Fifa 08 and improved the game vastly!

Can't wait to download the demo tonight. I am pretty much on the fence in the whole PES / Fifa debate, owning multiple iterations of both. Last year was the closest I feel it has ever come, so really looking forward to this year's showdown...

Sorry for the double post... although in my defence, there is a space of around 3 days between them.

Really enjoying this, although the demo is almost pathetically short. It feels like a very authentic game of football, and although I haven't played last year's PES for a while, this does feel like an excellent installment. Very fluid, excellent animation and a real sense of freedom. Yet to score two goals alike, although as stated, the half lengths are painfully short.

Had the next couple of months not been such an awesome time for PS3 releases, this would have definitely been on my shopping list, and I'll certainly pick it up at some stage, if not on day of release.

Note to self must download the demo, however waiting cos I don't have a Gold Subscription...
