Exclusive First View of Rugby World Cup 2011

One thing to note is that the momentum bar is still there, above the scores and below the clock. Wonder how it works in the RWC, as the only people who should get home advantage are NZ. Maybe home advantage has been removed and the whole system is possession/territory based?

Looks good but not amazing, should mean though the game flows alot better. Imagine it will get slightly better by the release date. Cant compare it to Sidhes screenshots as i dont think they are actual gameplay screen shots, more from the video clips. If they are from an in game thats impressive.. (think its been mentioned before). Both games starting to build up so looking forward over the next few weeks as they should start getting more competitive. Expect more to be released at E3. good work, cant wait to get playing. Just traded in my PS2 so am without rugby for a while.

At first glance the images did not 'wow' me. Whats with the Red/Brown colour on the stadium, Eden Park has nothing Red/Brown as far as I can remember..

However, I will wait to judge the game on gameplay like everyone else. HB mentioned right from the start that game play was very important.

EDIT: Had another look, I am just wondering if the images are edited or purposely taken in low res game setting because of licensing issues? Can't see faces, no jersey numbers/sponsor logos etc. Surely graphics wise they can't take a step back from Rugby 08.

I'm pretty disappointed in the poor likeness to eden park. There are major structural differences. i'll still buy this, but it is all looking pretty familiar isn't it? I don't really care that the players look ps2ish if the game plays well nobody will mind.

I hope the finished product looks a lot better but it won't matter to me as I am stuck with Sidhe either way I don't have a console and I don't want one.

Same here, I've considered buying a console, but there are only like 6 exclusive games on both the 360/PS3 that I'd be willing to get one for... RWC 2011 is now one of them, but I'm going to wait to see how it turns out... ABRC on the other hand, I am guaranteed to get since it is on PC.

That said... these screenshots look decent in my opinion... I'm more concerned about how the game play will be.

The only suggestion I could have for the graphics... the crowd looks pretty boring... this is supposed to be the WORLD CUP. Get a few banners and flags in there.

Wow. Was expecting it to look better than Rugby 08 O_O

Even the animations are carry overs! Look at that bunching (my pet hate from all HB's rugby games). The field is 70m wide or so and all the players are within 20m!

Time will tell... but first impression is pretty meh!

Going off these first "EXCLUSIVE" screens, and the thought that HB studios wouldnt let out a screen they weren't happy with, im gonna put all my bikkys in SIDHES basket now, after initially backing HB.

Yes i said HB will have the better product, but after these screens im switching!! Sorry HB, but those screens just are not good enough, after seeing what SIDHE have been able to produce. That dive, as brought up earlier in this topic, is the exact same dive as Rugby06,08!! Please prove me wrong, and not be anything like those games, and hope you have started from scratch!! Something new and innovative, like I know SIDHE are gonna produce, from the pure fact that SIDHE are new to rugby gaming.

NO canned animations!!
NO cardboard crowds!!
NO more everyone chase the ball carrier, primary school rugby!!

Come on HB Studios, dont just try cash in on the World Cup like your last attempt with Rugby08, give us gamers that pay our hard earned cash, a product thats worth it!! And just having International teams is a bit of a rip off if you ask me!! Full price game for 32 or so teams, some not even licenced!! HB have had a long time with this game so I'll be the first person in line to eat some humble pie if this rant is proven totally wrong!!

PLEASE, PLEASE LET ME BE TOTALLY AND UTTERLY WRONG!!

Cant compare it to Sidhes screenshots as i dont think they are actual gameplay screen shots, more from the video clips. If they are from an in game thats impressive.. (think its been mentioned before)

Yea, Mario over on the sidhe forums confirmed that they are in game screen shots, which is pretty awesome. I actually thought HB would own sidhe, but i guess not

And Mario also confirmed that Rug Chug has all NZ stadia exclusively aswell, which is why eden park looks like that

theres no way them player models are going to get much better than that this game is out in less than 3 months and screenshots are generally a very good representation just finally glad this wasnt cancelled because we didn see anything until now

Sidhe is leading the way totally. This side has been nothing but disappointint from HB's side the whole time, no info and now from what it seems ps1 graphics. I understand that may not be the polished result. Still, very average ... considering 08 was a great game fluidity wise, thought they would have gone groundbreaking here on ps3. Thank god the ITM cup and Super 15 is in Sidhe's hands ... along with creat your own tournaments ... which you could make any rugby nation with I reckon :) Hope HB shocks me. But I was going to buy both games regardless ... now , prob only All Blacks Rugby Challenge.

The stadium quality is quite good but the players are a bit of a let down. I will wait to see what the gameplay is like before making any judgments of the game, though.
Sidhe is ahead so far, though. The graphics look a bit better (I dunno what the players are like, though) and its coming out on PC (I don't have any game console).

Sweet....cant wait for both ***les..it'd be good if they released a screen about their rucks

Rugby Challenge screenshots are way better looking. Am interested to see some players on the field before i completly ride HB studios efforts off.
