Exclusive First View of Rugby World Cup 2011

Wow a pleasant surprise! Stadium and crowd etc look very purty and next gen! Even got realistic looking creases on the padding there.
Feel greedy now and want more :)
Thanks for sharing HB!

rugby challenge looks a lot better i think... Just my opinion though, they have released some screen shots and looks a lot better graphics wise

You gotta remember that this is very far from the finished product as the Jerseys need to be done and plenty more finalized I'm sure it will be just as beautiful as the sidhe ***le

Things are gonna get ugly, now!

I haven't seen enough of either ***le to form an opinion.

there is no way the graphics will be that bad, can you show us what they will look like please and how have you not finished the graphics??!!!!

Yeah I agree. I'd imagine the stadium quality and crowd and that would be a better barometer of what the final product might look like, at this stage.

Gotta admit... fairly underwhelmed by the screenshots. I hope they aren't a true representation of the final product

May i say that there is no extremely fat player in a fijian shirt hurtling towards the try line, defying the laws of physics, going by the name of Rupeni Caucaunibuca :p I hope he is available for selection in the game even if he is not selected in their squad, and i hope that his physical presence is represented in comparison to other players :D. In relation to the screenshots, i would hope that there is still some development to go in terms of the players and the ball but the stadia and pitch is absolutely brilliant in my opinion, hopefully catching the realism of New Zealand. At least people can no longer complain about a lack of information, but perhaps another Q&A after E3 wouldn't be too much to ask?

GOOD THINGS
Padding
No stupid ring around ankles
Crowd looks amazing
Real koru theme around stadium
Real scoreboard

BAD THINGS
Players look a little Rugby 2004
Eden Park looks cartoonish

Other than that thanks HB you've convinced me to buy it. Just price it lower than $130

Looks old... sorry, but these shots are not impressive for a 3rd gen machine. They BETTER not be finished. Having sais that, it's all about the gameplay, isn't?

rubbish. was this for the sega dreamcast or ps 2.5 or something?

nah, i'm sorry these just won't do it for me. rugby challenge looks better.

i am utterly dissapointed!!! what's that? ps2 graphics? cellphone game maybe? graphics are poor

Hmm not as bad as people are making it out to be in my opinion.

I don't know what to make of these screenshots... The crowd and everything off the field looks great (except the posts they look great too) but tbh that part doesn't worry me, i'm more interested on what i'll be focusing on such as the players and game play. The graphics look like something i'd see on the Playstation 1. I hope this is due to early stages of development otherwise it's not going to be something i'd want on my wishlist.

I must say when I did a close up of the players in the attachment they looked pretty poor, I agree they look like they're from a much older generation console. Maybe it's just the way it was shot but if this is the official release then I doubt it. Hopefully this means they put much more work into gameplay.

The graphics aren't as bad as some are saying. I'd imagine that seeing the animation of players, the speed of the game and the AI will all make a huge difference to how the game is perceived also. I'll only go so far and say that these screen grabs appear "reasonable" quality. It's of course mostly going to be about how well it plays.

As for those who say that in the second shot that everyone might still chase the ball carrier, well that doesn't appear to be that right either as the chasing defenders are all fairly closely lined up with chasing attack players, so that's good also.

All in all, we need to see screen grabs of actual players on the paddock from Sidhe in a similar shot to compare the two although at this stage Sidhe's graphics appear the better.

Graphics of course, will not mean everything. :)
