Euro 2020[1]

It's been good to see England and southgate finally looking like they can adapt and change things up during the game

If England do end up going all the way Southgate should be knighted. What a great story of redemption it would be.

Honestly he was redeemed at the world cup by getting us to a semi final. The fact he's now got us to point where we actually punching our weight at these tournaments and not going out as embrassments is a massive deal. He's finally got the footballer playing as team.

Yeh but all the more so if he was to win the Euros after what happened to him in 96. He took a lot of flak after missing that penalty.

I fancy England to deal with Ukraine quite easily. Their best two players are Zinchenko and Yarmalenko who both struggle to get a game for Man City and West Ham.

I think Denmark pose the biggest challenge to England reaching the final. They look like a proper team unit and gave Wales a pretty solid pumping. Perhaps the Eriksen cardiac incident has galvanised them. I think Italy will edge out Spain due to their superior defence. Have a feeling it'll be Italy v England in the final with it being a very cagey low scoring affair.

So far so good

Also, no yellows, so should all be fine going forward right?

My much anticipated Semi-Final predictions are in:

Italy 3-0 Spain
England 1-2 Denmark (AET)

Italy are simply a far better team than Spain who don't have the defence to play conservatively or an attack to cause trouble.

Denmark are playing with an unmatched intensity in the competition, I think they'll cause England's midfield problems they're yet to face and eek out a win playing with higher energy throughout.

Is that England v Denmark prediction one you hope rather than think?

Nah legit think it, they've been super impressive since losing to Belgium.
Here's a query, what makes you think Denmark will score 2 goals against a side that has kept a clean sheet all tournament?

I think it will depend on who scores first, we've yet to see England chase a game so we've no idea how they'd respond. They go 1-0 up and whilst I wouldn't expect a Ukraine level drubbing I'd expect it to go the way of the Germany match. For some reason I don't see extra time happening either.

Put simply, they're the best team England will have played all tournament.

To expand a bit more, England have dominated the midfield in basically all their games so far apart from maybe 30 mins v Germany.

Rice and Phillips are good players but Thomas Delaney is the best cm they'll have faced so far and Hojbjerg has been a lot better than either Goretzka or Kroos in this tournament, overall the two best central midfielders on the pitch will be Danes. Rice under more pressure in midfield equals a more stretched defence and more scoring opportunities because so far he has been free to roam and dissect opposition attacks which are mainly starting from deep positions.

Henderson could come back into the midfield to stiffen it if needs be. Momentum and home advantage are on England's side. Still, Denmark are decent and not to be underestimated. Still, say England to win though.
