EOYT: Wales v Argentina, 10/11/2012

From a somewhat neutral perspective (I consider Argentina a second country of sorts), I thought the game was really dire up until the Argentines scored the first try. It was like that was what they needed to believe that they could actually play rugby, instead of kicking the ball away every time they got it. They looked really impressive when they did decide to do this, as the error count dropped and ball started going to hand. Also glad to see the game didn't go begging, like it did against the Australians.

Hopefully they pick up a few more scalps and continue to play with ball in hand...

p.s. How good was Sanchez at those drop goals? I know he missed as many as he hit, but the technique was still there when he did.

I knew we was gonna struggle but didn't think we'd look this bad, never looked like scoring once, we just thought our defence would win it and Leighs boot, take away nothing from Argentina, you were class.

anyone wanna buy a NZ ticket?

He'll stick with Priestland though -.-

Props to Argentina for beating Wales at home - a good scalp.

The last year of rugby shows that Wales were massively overhyped around world cup time - as far as I can see, their biggest scalp has been beating England at Twickenham in the 6 nations.

That was horrible.. had to watch it on iPlayer later last night at half time I knew it was going wrong.. Priestland just shouldn't be there right now till he hits form again.. Also when Roberts came off was I the only one tempted to potentially try shifting Hook to 10, Priestland to 15, HP to wing and North to 13? As there was talk last year of it potentially happening.. Oh and Tipuric was brought on far to late to make a proper impact, warbs should be benched or they should try the whole Warbs 6, Tips 7.

Also well done to Argentina, they were simply the best team on the day.

Also am I the only one that can see Howley putting out a weaker team v Samoa with biggar at 10 then everyone kicking off at biggar as normal? Either Biggar or Hook needs to start at 10 and shingler to bench if they aint gonna have no second row cover..

Didnt want to post on this last night as I was drunk, angry and had Halo 4 to play for the first time..

So, that was horrible. After the first 20 or so minutes I was thinking "ok, this isnt bad, keeping the ball well, defending well, this could be a good". And then it all went wrong, first sign was when AWJ lost all his remaining marbles and gave away that stupid penalty after colliding with the kicker about 3 weeks after the ball was kicked. Then he went in the side at a ruck when we were in an attacking position then he went off with no adequate second row cover. After half time we just were abysmal, predictable attacks, sloppy handling errors and brainless ill-discipline. Argentina played well and fully deserved to win but we certainly helped by being so naff.

And thats before you take into account the selection ****-ups. They've all been covered by others so I'll not flog that particular dead horse.

With the injuries we have had before and now after the game I'm anxious for Friday as we all know how Samoa will batter us physically (both legally and not).

Hopefully he wont field a second team, Ospreys are the best team in Wales , you dont go to the RDS and beat Leinster, hopefully see Biggar and Beck now.

Gatland coaching lions is a bad idea for us

Twice. With near-last minute touchline cons. Only one other person in Wales could do that.

I'm hearing talk of a Gav call up if Roberts is out, surely he'd go Bishop first

He wouldn't like playing 12. He's been fantastic at 10 for London Welsh but for me it's best we leave Gav alone for a bit and let him do his bit to aid London Welsh.

Would Bishop be the next in line? Suppose he would be.

Oh God!!! I am actually frothing with excitement at the mention of Gav in a welsh shirt (make sense seeing as he was not included in the London welsh team to play Exeter today). But as much as I'd love to see The Orange One back in the Red shirt once again, I think he should be left alone at least until 6 nations. Lyn Jones has got him kicking again, and he's having a decent run of games for Welsh. Leave him gain momentum and game-time - Rather see him properly earn his call up with 5/6 months of consistent performances, rather than called up through desperation!!

Right, yesterday's game. I think everyone has said what I've wanted to. Argentina thoroughly deserved the win, and we looked shapeless and lifeless throughout the game ; thats not taking anything away from Argentina, they played brilliantly in final 30 mins (I got very frustrated at everyone writing them off prior to the game).

While I understand the morals behind the welsh managements over-seas policy, it does raise concerns with performances like yesterday. We have got away in the past with picking on past performances over form, but yesterday showed that it must change. The Liberty would have been set alight by angry turkish mobs had that been biggar playing yesterday. Now I'm not completely blaming Priestland, but when there is an outright in form player, you'd expect the national coaches to see the divide.

I really hope we don't go with the usual tactic of picking a cretin/experimental team for the islander matches. Firstly, its a huge disrespect to the opposition and secondly, its a tactic that always comes to bite us in the A@$ after 80 minutes. Biggar will get his chance, have a solid game amongst an below average team, and then resume his place amongst the reserves/training squad. Same with Tupuric. Not calling for Warbs' head, but maybe a change is needed due to his regional form. From what I've seen Navidi has been in better form for the Blues than Warbs. I think Priestland and Warbs need a good rest away from the firing line, and try and regain regional form prior to resuming their place within the welsh squad.

I sincerely hope that we pick a balanced/strong side for Friday, so that we don't end up on the losing side again. We need a convincing performance, otherwise Saturday morning shall have a similar atmosphere to today :( :( :(

I think Henson should be let to settle a bit more at Welsh. He seems to have finally got his head down, and I can see a possible Six Nations call-up, but he needs to prove his maturity first imo. In fact, if he does prove maturity and form, he could replace Priestland...

Agree with Bishop as the next in line, and if Davies doesn't get back, Biggar-Beck-Bishop would be tempting...

Injured, rested, or dropped for this week?

Bishop, noooo. Adam Hughes...
He can handle the physicality, he is the Gwent Lomu.

Mwah, Welsh players finally transferring their club form over to the international stage. Awesomesauce.

Fair dues Argentina.

The Changes need to be made though. So It shouldn't be a weakened team put out Friday, but a stronger one with the form players starting. If Ryan Jones is back, then drop Warburton to the bench, if he's not then shift Warbs to 6, because he's still a better option than Turnbull, McCusker and Shingler on the blindside at present. Warburton was joint top tackler for Wales, but didn't miss 4 tackles like Turnbull. If Tipuric doesn't start at 7, I abandon all hope for the 6 nations already.

Who should captain the side? Warburton is a lead by example type of captain, which works very well when he's playing well and influencing the game. But at the moment he's not playing well, so maybe the captaincy should be temporarily given to someone else while he recovers some form. Ryan Jones would be the obvious choice if he returns. Alun-Wyn Jones could be an option, but it doesn't appear that he'll be fit to start. Gethin Jenkins is another, but he's another lead by example player, and not in top form. Tipuric has plenty of experience captaining the Ospreys, so he's another that could do so. Not a fan of backs captaining, and there isn't any experienced players to do so. Can't see Phillips being a good captain for example.

As for the centre. Not a fan of Bishop. I don't see what he offers over Scott Williams. Not at all sold on Adam Hughes either, waay to inconsistent. Just pray that Beck and Davies are fit for the remainder of the AI's. Trying North at 13 could be an option, but not one I'm hugely keen on either. Henson could be an option, but I'd prfer to leave him get plenty of game time at LW. He'd probably get injured within 10min and be out for 6 months.

I don't know the Pumas players well enough to them wholly accurate ratings.
I would have given Camacho MotM. Outstanding in defence, stopped our wings dead.

Going to pick a bit here ...

If you give Jarvis a 6 then Jenkins is equally deserving of a 6. Sorry but watching the game again, the tackles he made, chasing of poor kicks, rucking, scrummaging the guy ran himself into the ground. If he get's a 4 for that and Jarvis get's a 6 (deserved) then there is a serious witch hunt going on.

You gave Knoyle a 5? Really he was terrible, his service was weak and he get's a 5? Really?

If you give Warbs a 3 then Preistland is equaling of that.

Also Duck you are starting to really getting boring with being so negative all the time. Fact remains Robinson is in the squad regardless of what he has or hasn't done. I guarantee if Cuthbert / North was to get injured you would be the first to point a finger at selection.

Personally I would start with as strong as team as possible but be weary of important players.
