England v Scotland, 02/02/13

wow...Scotland have got some serious work to do on their defense, my goodness...it seriously looks like they've started the match with a red card, but all 15 are there...
England is very powerful though, they've really confirmed that here.

This match is looking a whole lot like an echo of the past November matches against the AB's for both sides.
* England is so enthusiastic at home, and the forwards are putting in some SERIOUS work. Just like the AB game.
* Scotland relies solely on their counter-attack/individual prowess ability and will score a few tries, but that's short lived as the other side eventually exploits their weaknesses and catches up; and overall Scotland manage to always give us the illusion they may have a chance early on (like the AB game), but that thought is dismissed right about when the 2nd half start.

Also Tony, have to disagree about Ben Youngs I think he's had an excellent game. His basics have been far better than they often are, and thats all that usually holds him back

Damm, Care went the wrong way there.

What shite from Goode. Having a really poor game.

I said the Hogg thing at the right time lol I would have him over Rob atm and Halfpenny + Goode looked a bit lack luster

**** sake Care, really awful decision making there

Ah I get it....Ben Youngs fan!! He played much better this match but his kicking was still far too long....nis break was super but would still rather Care overall.

Bloody substitutes....they ruin every game and this one is no different.....England should have kept going as tries scored will count!

On this performance....England will give France some trouble but not sure there is anyone else to challenge either of them. Next week in Dublin will be be fun and educational!!

For mid-week matches certainly. To be honest, there's only 1 person I wouldn't like fullback for the Lions (I won't mention the name to start another argument) but really we have so many quality players there. Goode is looking good too, him or Hogg for mid-week test match?

Would've liked to see Scotland pull it off, but at least it wasn't a snoozer.

das

^ speak for yourself !! Thought it was pretty cool early but got a bit stale later...

Silly from Lancaster to take 12trees off for Flood  Good enough game we look a bit rusty but at least we are playing with lots of intensity. Goode wasn't good enough today.

I think considerng all the full-backs who played today it would be VERY HARD to look past Halfpenny. Stood out in everything he did.

Delighted with lots of Englands performance today. Robshaw was immense. Not only his breakdown work and steals, but immense carrying. A kick in the nads for those who refuse to consider him for the lions just because he's English :p

Tony, I was disappointed that Care didn't start but after that game I retrospectively back that decision 100%! Youngs upped his game today.

Morgan really put his hand up as a carrying 8. Haskell was excellent coming on, huge impact, and so many steals!

However, the main problem for me was Goode's indecision at full-back. He tried to keep the Scots guessing as to which way he'd go, but he actually just kept himself guessing.

Lancaster is a fantastic coach and I respect him a lot, but something about him makes me want to just punch him the in face. He's so calm.

Edit; Yeah Henry, Kearney was quite quiet today, Halfpenny is certainly in the lead for the Lions shirt.

don't agree thought 36 did enough already no point in having a risked to injury, might aswell give the 10.flood, 12.farrel a try incase it is needed (Injuries etc).

Like the idea of a 36 Manu partnership again like for the tigers, 36 has a great pass so would improve distribution. (But 12trees did make some mistakes early on glad it didn't affect him)

Thought youngs had a better game today than care but is still very inconsitant.

Overall good performance but england lacked any penetration in the backs. and brown is not a winger no matter how much lancster wants him to be.

Difficult to judge Henry when he came on to play for a team under so much pressure. Agree about Kearney though.

England looked good just off the fringes, some real good offloading aswell. The Backrow particularly impressed me, really well balanced. Twelvetrees had a great debut and Robshaw along with Farrell had impressive games.

Some of Englands tackling was abit poor, Parling will not want to see some of his attempts on Beattie.

What I take from that; England are weak in the scrum. France will destroy us unless Lancaster picks a front row that includes Hartley that can compete. Hopefully Corbs will be back for Marler, who did ok, though that is the stand out weakness. Along with Goode.
