England v New Zealand - 2 November 2024

TBF we didn't deserve to win that. Coulda maybe shoulda but we barely fired a shot in attack. 3 tries vs an intercept (albeit a good one) kind of tells the story.

NZ were poor but at least showed some attacking threat. I swear their midfield took more lineouts than their locks.

Baxter's a prospect but he struggled a bit in the tight in the summer and our reserve front row were bested.

Not sure that told us much we didn't know, but the performance was poor and after the summer the result has to be seen as disappointing.

Some good moments from CCS and IFW looked the part.

Honestly I'm not as negative as most, we were physically and disrupted alot of their attack, we had given 2 pens at like 65 min.

Yes we need work I don't deny that but we arnt awful.

I didn't have a gpod feeling soon as I saw Ford at 23 with a 6/2 split, missed kick and missed drop goal and looking lost at the end, soft tackle on talea for his last try. Not sure Fin would have done better he's inexperienced but I'd say Smith played pretty well. Martin, Itoje and CCS were beasts and IFW had some great moments.

NZ certainly showed more holes in the English defence than vice versa

Tbh there were some good moments, but is it enough to crack the top 4, because realistically that's the goal. We're not awful and there are plenty of good aspects to England, but for me if England want to be contenders for the 6Ns and the WC then it's not enough. NZ also had good moments, but were also sloppy and also didn't look like winning the WC if they played like that.

As for Ford coming on, he's meant to be the reliable, experienced man and he was the weak link. I'd easily have Fin Smith in the side over Ford.

If those offences happened the other way round I wonder if the outcome would be the same?

"Yeah, because you've illegally taken that guy out there I'm going to ignore you dropping the nut on someone else seconds later"

Would you give Farrell the same criteria?

He has enough in the bank to have an ordinary patch like Jones in 2018 for England. I think ye played very within yourselves this year, even when beating us, which Farrell teams haven't done (we were error ridden in 2020 and first half of 21, I was on his back incorrectly in hindsight). He's had one win against better opposition and a handful of losses against worse / equal at this point too.

I don't see how England can be happy losing to the 3rd / 4th* best team in the world at home with their player base.

Faz also won't bd our coach for the 6n which is a shame with a great crack at the slam.

*don't know the rankings below 2nd but I think France with Dupont knock this NZ side to third.

Huh?
Neither offence was ignored.

#22 was shown a yellow card for the tackle off the ball, then once shown the replays of the high tackle, he was shown a yellow card for that. With a 10 minute review.

I'm not convinced that you can show a red card for 2 yellows, without first showing a yellow.

Curry is the national dish of Wales. In fact I think we go through more curry, per capita, than any of the home nations so on that basis I claim him and I declare to use my right of Prima Nocta.
