England Squad

Brown is possibly the most over-rated bottler in world rugby. I would select Goode any day of the week when given a straight choice.

Case point being the summer tests vs the Boks - Brown bottled a tackle, injuring himslf and costing England the match. Foden by his own standard was quiet but clearly still the best option at FB and Goode looked useful despite being called up late.

Brown also bottled a walk it try v Wales and cost England the slam back in Feb.

Goode is very underrated - people think he's boring because he plays for Saracens and their gameplan makes all of their backs look boring.
Then again, Farrell Sr. is in the England setup so kick-chase will probably be the name of the game.

I'm a fan of Brown but I'd take Abendanon over him.

Abendanon, not for me - to me he is your Gregor Townsend/Michalak/Carlos Spencer....he will win you games but he will lose you just as many!!

I am all for the cavalier approach (ie JS Daniel) but Abendanon would be a step too far for me!!!

I dunno, his commitment/effort is second to none, good tackler great counter attacker.

He can be a bit hit or miss, I agree, but no more than Mike Brown.

Is there any point in picking an attacking 15 when we're not going to get the ball beyond our centers?

Better news: Olly Morgan will be back soon to take his rightful place as second-choice fullback. :p (At least until he gets injured and is out for the rest of the season!)

On a somewhat unrelated note: How's Danny Cipriani doing for Sale?

Announced by RFU twitter: Burns to replace JTH and 12T to provide cover for Joseph.

Pretty well,
Was fairly average at first but due to getting little game time/not having a run in the shirt as he wasn't gelling with others.
He's had a few games in a row now and is playing well and gaining confidence.

Great news on Burns and 36, would start both.
Doubt they'll be more than tackle bag holders unfortunately.

Burns is a good player, I certainly see him as the best option at stand off for England right now.

I would too. I think Burns has got a very good shot at making a matchday squad. Even if he doesn't make the team for Fiji, a bad performance from either Farrell or Flood will potentially see him in. Considering how Farrell isn't starting at 10 for Sarries, and the England management have been very clear about him being taken as a 10, I have high hopes that Burns will be used in the AIs now.

12T will be very unlikely to be used imo. There's only space for one 12 in a matchday squad and he's clearly behind Allen and Barritt in the pecking order.

The great thing about having 12T in a squad though, is that in defense he plays as a fetcher. Him and Tindall have made a tidy few turnovers for centers. Between 12T, Cole, Robshaw and (if picked) Wood, England aren't going to be short of turnover specialists.

At least they're there being looked at, which is frequently a prelude to being moved there. Best England news in a while.

I hope 12trees shows barritt and allen up at training, i really want 12trees and Manu in the centres, adding Burns to 10 would be a dream come true!

I was a bit gutted that Ben Morgan didn't have a stormer at the weekend as i really wanted him to start but maybe Tubby Wladrum will!Ugh

Good to see Twelvetrees, Burns & Launchbury in the squad. Hope Burns does well in training, personally I would have him on the bench over Farrell.
