England Squad

Yes, not sure if it is permanent, or only for testing right now.

Knowing the inept morons at the IRB who govern the laws of the game, they'll likely find it a bad idea. As they do for everything what is good and vice versa.

England: 15 Alex Goode, 14 Charlie Sharples, 13 Manu Tuilagi, 12 Brad Barritt, 11 Ugo Monye, 10 Toby Flood, 9 Danny Care, 8 Thomas Waldrom, 7 Chris Robshaw, 6 Tom Johnson, 5 Geoff Parling, 4 Tom Palmer, 3 Dan Cole, 2 Tom Youngs, 1 Joe Marler.
Replacements: 16 David Paice, 17 David Wilson, 18 Mako Vunipola, 19 Joe Launchbury, 20 Tom Wood, 21. Ben Youngs, 22 Owen Farrell, 23 Mike Brown.

Slightly surprised Goode starts ahead of Brown but otherwise I think its as expected considering the players that have been released back to their teams.

RE: Dowson probably because of his Saxons days he knows whats he getting?

WHich brings me to a point i been thinking in this Lancaster era...

I am not 100% on this but the leadership books/people Lancaster models his selection on and philosophy, is around rugby Smarts and having spare capacity in the mind to make good decisions under pressure/reading the game on the fly and not panicking under pressure giving away penalties.

I don't think he values brute strength as much as good rugby brain. His selections seem to point to me that at least (haskell, Botha, Easter, Armitage brothers?). As soon as he finds a good rugby player who fits his mold he will be in -regardless of the whole physical/experience thing.

Certainly to me his philosophy is different to MJ who loved the whole "phsyical pack and no brain" domination as during his era the lack of rugby smarts dominated and we gave away more penalties under pressure (and unforced) then at any other england team i can remember?

Certainly if you look at the 2003 side we had a good mix of physicality BUT more importantly we had rugby players who had good rugby playing intelligence and read games on the fly and change tactics and games (Greenwood, dawson, wilkinson, Back, Hill, Catt, Cory, etc etc etc). Certainly if you look at the ALl backs they look at rugby intelligence and skills more then bute strength -this is Lancasters blueprint for rugby domination rather then the usual England thinking of "dominant/powerful pack to bash the opposition into submission"

Not me, i said all along Goode fits Lancaster's kind of player and will always be ahead of Mike Brown regardless of Browns stats in the premiership.

I will also make a controversial prediction (remember this post) Foden will lose his place in starting 11 from now on. And when Wood gets back to his very best Robshaw and WOod will be our 6,7 first choice into the 6N/WC and future.

I just think Foden will struggle to get back because of his club it won't make him look good (enough) to get back in the starting 11. Others in that position offer a little more (and their clubs are better) and Foden reminds me to much of Cueto (and we know how many tries he scored at the end of his England career didn't we ), other then experience what else does he offer then the others?

2 things...

1. Rugby isn't soccer. 15 players old boy.
2. Saints turning **** coincided with Fodens injury. Thankfully Wilson was a useful enough stand in to give Wasps a good fisting.

Foden is by far and away the best fullback in mainland Britain. The debate between him and Kerney will rage on until Gatlan picks a taff he knows. That is why I don't like him playing for England.

Cueto scored like five tries in his last few games for England...

I am amazed, perplexed and baffled as to how anyone could think Foden resembles Cueto. It's like thinking Dalliago resembles Easter.

In his last... 20 or so? ;)
Irrelevant: He said "the end of his career" which means the world cup, and he scored four tries in two matches :p

But anyway, I agree with the above: Foden is head and shoulders above any other English fullback.

George North scored 11 tries in one match, but the IRB had to disallow the match, as it was too embarrassing.

Same thing happened when Alex Cuthbert won the Grand National by 8 lengths.

You reminded me of Cuthbert's "horse showjump" celebration he does when Wales win.
