England Six Nations thread

Some of you might be interested in watching Bath's Amlin cup game tonight....

A fair few England players to keep an eye on:

15. Anthony Watson
13. Jonathan Joseph
12. Kyle Eastmond
10. George Ford
2. Rob Webber
6. Matt Garvey
17. Nathan Catt

We're already through to the last 8 but need 4T BP to make sure we don't face a team dropping down from the Heineken.
So it could be a bit of a try-fest.

Also I've just been comparing some of our winger's stats from last year, and the defenders beaten may (or may not!) shock you:

In 8 games Chris Ashton beat 2 defenders and made 1 clean break.

In 1 game Marland Yarde beat 4 defenders and made 1 clean break.

If those stats are accurate, that is damning beyond belief. Not that I didn't expect those stats to be low, but the extremity of awfulness is woeful.
Foden, by the way, was just as innefective according to the stats - but then again he isn't a winger so shouldn't be played there.

Bath have a really good chance of winning the amlin . Who looks like the teams that are coming down from the HEC ?

To be fair, Ashton's main strength isn't beating defenders... but yeah, not surprising. Love to see Watson vs Goode.

In fairness, that's got at least as much to do with the centres and so on as it does the winger himself... but yeah.

My point is that actually even with **** ball he should be doing far more than he has.
The idea that there is no point in swapping him looks threadbare at best in the face of these stats.

In the four matches Mike Brown played on the wing this year he beat 8 defenders and made 2 clean breaks.
In those same 4 games Chris managed to beat 1 defender and did not make any clean breaks.

I thought the stats would look something like that. Ashton is ****e everyone knows this apart from Lancaster.

As for foden, his key strength was broken field play. He doesn't find that much on the wing and didn't look too good there. Fullbacks don't always make good wingers.

ooh we've got an official 6N section now ! Exciting !! A little less than 2 weeks now, ya Queen worshippers ! I've got my English friend coming over, should be a blast. Hope dearly it won't be the snoozefest it was last year.
This is how it felt last year: "ALRIGHT LET'S DO THIS !!!.......hmmm..........(zzzzzzz).......OMG FOFANA, INSAAAAAANE !!!!.........zzzzzz......nice scrums by France tonight huh ??.........aww crap, fk you Tuilagi.............oh well, ANOTHER loss......eh, well that sucks.......".

Preaching to the choir. Yarde received better ball but there is no excuse for Ashton.

At the minute it looks like it will be Northampton, Cardiff, Harlequins and Edinburgh coming down. I could see Nortthampton winning the amlin and Bath runners up

Could we...you know....keep this for England Six Nations discussion

If you read in the past page, someone said bath have a good chance of winning the amlin, who will come down from the heineken? I was simply answering a question. Problem? Don't see you having a go at the person asking the question...

It was targeted at everyone off topic, not just you - I would've quoted you otherwise...

It's not a big deal, we'll forget about it. But anyways, Anthony Watson is tearing it up this evening. Class runner, set up first try brilliantly

On topic George ford is having a cracking game again . He's really challenging Lancaster to pick him for the first game

Really like Ford, and that's coming from an Irish point of view. Much more likeable than that dick Farrell and offers much more of an attacking threat. I doubt it'll happen but I would like to see him get a chance in the first game .

I expect/hope he will get a start vs Scotland . I think he will overtake Farrell as number 1 before the RWC
