England Six Nations thread

It's a great shame because he is phenomenal in the loose.

Now that Maitland is confirmed out, I think we really should be confident of putting them to the sword.

We should start the same 1-21, with Ford and Eastmond/Watson on the bench (though I know it'll be Goode there, realistically).

How can Goode keep his place on the bench after that performance? That bench lost us the game, I hope (perhaps foolishly) Lancaster can see that.

Usually what's bad about Goode is just that he's uninspiring and not going to change the game.
But actually on saturday I thought his overall game was fine - if he hadn't made a big mistake on the second try.

Really no international outside back should let a player get on the outside of you like that, especially from a standing start, as Huget managed for the second try. In practise, yes it happens from time to time, and it has happened to better players than Goode. But such is Goode's existing reputation of someone whose time has come and gone, that people won't let him get away with it, and I think that's how it should be, because England do have many better options.

Realistically he simply isn't a good enough athlete to play at this level.

Far too slow.

It's clearly not going to happen at this point but he would be best served by switching back to fly-half.

Regarding the try, it was a 2 on 1 and the attacking players are expected to score.

which try are you talking about?
For the 2nd try, Huget ran right around Goode and then used his support runner - Goode should have put him down long before he had that support.

yes, France as a nation would like to officially congratulate and extend many gracious thanks to Alex Goode of England by the way for showing fair play and sympathy towards the French attackers, this totally slipped my mind I'm only reminded to make this comment now...apologies for delay.

England's own analysts have just posted some of their stats (which are more reliable than the ESPN ones).

Nowell shone on debut aged just 20: 14 tackles without a miss (2nd in team), 8 carries, 6 over gainline, 1 clean break.

If Goode had the pass would have gone to the support player, not a big fan of Goode at all but I think he is taking a bit too much stick over the result

I'm gogin to continue this here, because it's the contemporary thread.

This article suggests Bath are after Burgess.

Yes please.

Damn, I just took to look in at some info easily available from a Google search. You guys must get 1 or 2 of those beasts in for 2015 for sure. Even if they aren't used to Union a player like Willem Alberts has shown you don't need fine skills to be effective. And here you have 4 Albertse with some pace too boot.

wtf will Rugby look like in another 20/30 years ?...surely there's a ceiling, human beings can't start weighing 150kg and run like backs...but it sure looks like we're heading, with giant steps, towards a contest of sheer mass. The past few years, just look at the popular players. I think I'd lose interest pretty quickly if that were the case.
But that Burgess, great mobility for such a stud.

Hello guys not sure if this is the done thing on here or not as this is my first post. We have 2 tickets for the Ireland game at Twickenham on Feb 22nd. Unfortunately we cant go now due to having to go away with work. Ive just come online to sell them on viagogo or gumtree etc but the prices on there are just ridiculous OK I could make some decent money but its unethical in my opinion and would much prefer to sell to a genuine fan at the face value if you guys could point me in the right direction as to were I can do that it would be much appreciated, Im going to Murrayfield this weekend so could potentially meet people up there if needed.

Goode missed virtually every high ball that was contested and some that were not. Forced one of our best players out of position with his lack of versatility and cost a try with his feeble defence. Not to mention he had plenty of good attacking ball to make things happen which of course he didn't. I will give credit to people I don't like when they deserve it (I thought Farrell played very well in the second half) but Goode was @#%$ and needs to be dropped, he earned all the stick he has been getting.
