Venue: Kingsholm
Kick-off: 14.30 BST

England squad:
15 Alex Goode
14 Charlie Sharples ,
13 Henry Trinder,
12 Billy Twelvetrees,
11 Topsy Ojo,
10 Rory Clegg,
9 Paul Hodgson,
8 Jordan Crane(c),
7 Tom Johnson,
6 James Gaskell,
5 Dave Attwood,
4 Mouritz Botha ,

1 Matt Mullan.
Replacements: 16 Joe Gray, 17 Kieran Brookes, 18 Graham Kitchener, 19 Jamie Gibson, 20 Micky Young, 21 Jordan Turner-Hall, 22 Mike Brown.

Bit of rotation between some positions from the last match to try them out before the final vs Canada
Would've rather seen Sharples in for Ojo, think Sharples and Benjamin would make a fantastic wing pairing
Would've started Young regardless of rotation, don't rate Hodgson
Goode vs Brown is a good battle for a spot

Why can't this be on tomorrow, when I have nothing better to do? :/

... Assuming that they win against Tonga :D

Ah, but of course :p

I was just reading the article from Planet Rugby and they were going on as if we'd made it

I don't expect Tonga to be a pushover, it should be a great match with hopefully a Saxons win :D

Sad not to see Brown start, but as you said Goode is hardly a bad replacement.
To be honest this seems like a marginally weaker team, which makes little sense as Tonga will pose more of a threat than USA, but can see why they would want to rotate players a little.
Good to see Sharples start.

Boooo, had convinced myself this was at 5,
Going to miss it now as I'm going out for dinner =/

(updated the firs post with the Tonga team)

Hardly much in the way of development with this side again, Bolds being those likely to eventually get caps and italics with an outside chance of eventually getting there IMO. At least Goode is given a run instead of bloody Brown.

Still, this one can't be any more one sided and boring then the USA game. I still doubt I'll bother watching though.

Surprised you didnt put Trinder as having a chance of getting there in the end. I thought he was a stand out player last match.

His face doesn't fit and the wrong club. Sadly. England are far too obsessed in big lumbering centres. :(

Halftime Saxons 24 Tonga 0
Missed alot of the first half but from what I saw the Saxons dominated the set pieces with 2 of the trys penalty trys from the scrum. 1 try coming from Crane.

The Saxons look confident and are dominating the game, however Tonga are making it easy for them with silly mistakes and lack of cohesion!

Final score Saxons 41 Tonga 14
England too well drilled clinical and disciplined up front. Tonga tried hard and defended well for most of the day. Silly penaltys at the break down and poor lineout let them down. Scrum was dominated all day (there has to be a better option at loosehead than Lea'aetoa).

Did I imagine seeing Toby Faletau in a hoody clapping after Tongas first try? Nobody else seemed to have seen it, but I was sure it was him.

I read something in the local rag that he'll be doing pre-season with the club rather then the Tonga warm-ups, jetting off for the world cup and coming back whenever Tonga are finished in NZ. Assuming he's selected.

He is our only best loosehead. So he will be picked in Tonga 30 Man squad.Besides him our only second best loosehead is Sona Taumalolo.Tonga Lea'atoa will probably make the final cut but won't be anywhere near starting 22 that's for sure.
