England Rugby 2018/19 Thread

Honestly if England play the same as previously then 1 is what I expect. 2 would be good, 3 would be an excellent AI.

I'd expect us to get two wins (Japan and Australia), but the South African one is a lottery based on a lack of consistency in form when travelling for them. Doubt we will get close to the All Blacks.

AI 4wks away more or less
Can anyone predict who will bet fit for selection let alone results

Hughes might be cited too. I'd be more than happy to take Mercer as backup for 8. Morgan too (Gloucester tho...)

Still want to see Johnny Williams, another good outing Vs Sale in the squad, and is a type of 12 we don't currently have,

Tom Wood back to full fitness tho :(

Launchbury is out for 12 weeks and will miss the aumtumn games.

The only way our players get rested is when its forced :(

Anyway, think Kruis and Itoje are our best combination, esp in the set piece... Hopefully Launch is fully fit by the 6N

Yeah it sucks Big Joe is out of the Autumn internationals, but return to Krutoje won't be so bad as it's probably England's best locking partnership. Never thought Maro and Joe clicked in the same way.

Hughes tweeting "what a joke" during his disciplinary hearing. Really not the sharpest tool in the box is he?

Guess that gives Mercer his chance.
No he is not but please tell me thats not news to you haha, he's starting to take the ***le of dumbest player from hask

Maro playing blindside again this weekend??

Is he? Yep he can cut it at 6 in the Premiership and cover there if necessary for England, but starting he's a lock.
In a minority I know, but I'd really really like to see him settle at 6.

Shields is starting for Pests. Be interesting to see how he goes and whether he demonstrates a higher IQ than the other current and former Pests back rowers we've just mentioned.

Pity, I thought Launchbury was currently top of our lock pecking order on recent form for England but at least it is the one area where we don't really need to worry about injuries.

Also Hughes, HA moron. Hopefully he continues to be a complete potato and takes himself out of contention for England so Jones is forced to look at an alternative. Still want to see Morgan given a go in the shirt again.

Just heard a great description of the different types of back row players from Nic White.

1) workhorse
2) leader
3) on baller

This is a great description of a well balanced back row.
Still missing the on baller for England.

I believe a good full back should make you feel confident in their defence, positioning and intelligence. Anything else is a bonus strength. For me this is why Brown continues to be picked.
However the reason I write this is because Jonah Holmes makes me feel this way in each game I have seen him.
Is he any where near an England selection?
