Alex Lowe from the Times is reporting that Manu Tuilagi will miss the Worls Cup after pleading guilty to assaulting a police officer.

Telegraph reporting it on their site. Simply says he won't be considered for selection after pleading guilty, more to follow.

Presumably the assault had just happened? There is no earthly way it would have been kept quiet unless he has plead guilty straight after being arrested? Right?

The incident is said to have taken place several weeks ago, and involved Tuilagi clashing with a taxi driver and a police officer.

Struggling to believe this, surely it would've been leaked before now?

Edit: Supposedly there's a Leicester statement to be released at 4.

If it happened a bit ago, then it has been some incredible PR to keep it out of the public eye. However has been managing that at your end deserves a medal!

Three charges of assault and one of criminal damage....I wonder what that got him in court? Especially as one (or more?) was a copper.

From a rugby POV this is bad. But he deserves the ban so I guess we can't complain. At least he admitted it and didn't try to drag it out I guess.

How many centres will Lancaster likely include in the final 31 man squad? Just trying to think who'll make it now Tuilagi's out. I'd personally go for Barrett, Joseph, Burrell and Eastmond, with Slade to come in if there's room.
