England 2024/25

Looks like Furbank has a broken forearm, so we will need a new FB for the 6 nations. Who's on the list after Furbank?

Carpenter? Or move Freemans to FB and play Sleightholme or Roebuck on the other wing.
If Smith M is at 10, then Freeman, Carpenter, or Roebuck at 15, offering power and pace from the back.
11/14 any of those 3, plus Sleightholme or IFW.

I was toying with responding to some of the selection comments.

Especially about bringing in younger players into an established setup. For that, it works well when coming into a winning team. We ain't winning. At the moment, bringing in younger players to help them build confidence and drip feeding them isn't what we need. We need to get the team winning and on an upward trajectory first. Then look at bringing in younger players to develop for the future if we need.

I've said it before though, selections at this point are almost a pointless discussion. The main issue is the tactics and the defence. (I would also accept decision making of the players as well). Until the tactics are sorted and clear and the defence is working, then no player is going magically solve England's issues, no matter how good.

If selection doesn't matter then I want Ben Earl at 12.

I'd take all of Steward, Malins or even DeGlanville or Marcus ahead of moving Freeman there.
Carpenter's an interesting option.

Personally I don't understand why so many people want to take Freeman, an excellent winger, and play him anywhere but on the wing.
It worked for Watson

Wouldn't mind Carpenter to be fair, Steward is so good under the high ball but he's just to slow unfortunately.

Felix Jones apparently no longer tied to England as of today....

Full back....Im happy with Steward temporarily but we need to get the defence sorted so we dont leave him exposed in one on ones. Ie he needs the more agile Waboso etc covering him

If Felix Jones ends up with the Irish National setup I will be royally ****** off. I'm not sure if the blame is with RFU and it's culture, the way it negotiates contracts, the way Borthwick runs his team or Jones himself not honouring a contract, but no way should England be losing a good coach like that to a close rival mid cycle.

I've read that he has no job to go to, which makes it even worse.

That said, sounds like it's odds on that he'll be getting a call from the Lions.
