England 2024/25

Would be mighty p*ssed off if Underhill went for the Euros.

But equally wouldn't blame him if he did as SB's sent a raft of signals that he doesn't really rate him. RWC omission, no central contract etc. Plus he'll be 29 next year and with his injury record may not need too much persuading to cash in.
Especially considering he has consistently performed, hasn't had any drama I'm aware of and has been on of the few players who can really turn momentum when defending. It's a full on snub by Borthwick, especially so since Underhill has quite drastically improved his carrying the last year too.

Good that it's being managed and in co-operation between club and country. But the article doesn't really give great confidence that we'll ever consistently see him at the kind of levels everyone expects.

100%. We are simply a better team with him in the side and it would be gutting to lose him.

I would get it if he did cash in but it would be a huge loss to have arguably our two best flankers playing in France and ineligible for selection.

Even more so given the chronic nature of Curry's hip injury.

Maybe hes just accepting the new GOAT is coming through at Bath...Mr Pepper ;) :D

If Underhill goes to France that would be a travesty, with the ideas you have suggested I wouldn't be so shocked if it happened and bath have such depth in the back row as well.

I do wonder if Underhill had told Bath he was thinking about leaving and that's why they signed Pepper - it did seem a bit left field at the time considering they already had very good depth in the backrow

Worth noting, he's got another year on his contract, and even Fissler thinks there's little to nothing in it.
That said, I wouldn't blame him at all for feeling that he doesn't fit with what Silly Bollox wants from a flanker (either side), and takes the money.

If he does go, I think England will suffer more than Bath, weirdly.
What he does is irreplaceable, but Bath have good cover for the position itself, which will take a couple of years to come online at an international level.
I don't think his potential departure has anything to do with signing Pepper - that was pure opportunism. The opportunity was there, so why not take it? Besides, IIRC, we signed Pepper before Sam re-signed (or at least, announced the one before the other)

If SB doesn't rate Underhill it's odd that's he's started him in so many games.

I'd also add that if SB doesn't rate underhill, it's SB that needs to go, not Sam.

TY, these days, twitter just takes me to the contributors wall, not to the specific post.

Just hope it's not just Slightly Befuddled doing a long, rambling interview about how everything is going to plan, and we'll be world beaters in 2027
