England 2024/25

Probably more that genuinely good 9s are hard to come by so why waste development time by shipping promising players out to other positions
Fair, maybe glasgow and SA do it as less teams to less of a crunch on SH? Feels like a good way to get youngsters game time though, and to a position like wing you arent shifting development to much and have their primary training/playing position still be SH. If 6/2 continues to get used seems like a pretty good point of differnce to get in a team.

Whilst I agree with this, SH's are generally 60 minute players, I'd have no issue if some got shift out to the wing or even 10(if they had the talent) to make them a more rounded player.

I'm in no way saying put a player where they don't belong but like Smith ending a game at FB rather than being taken off it can improve them as a player without taking anything away IMO.

Well let's hope so.

Also pleased to see the Times describing Isiekwe as having had a 'monster game'.

(Refusing out of principle to pay for yet another TV channel, so purely going by what I've read).

But... he didnt stand out in the england A game...

Seriously though, not sure what more tom could do to prove he is pretty clearly the best english 8 playing in the prem, that also performs against internationals in europe/SA.

I didn't watch that England A game but how did he play? Quietly about his business? Lost in the background?

Maybe SB saw something he liked but didn't want to change things in the autumn. The 6 nations squad will be telling but I wonder if SB wants to move CCS to 8 long term and seems him as having a much higher ceiling than Willis.

The latter, was a really disappointing performance tbh, especially when Pollock played well so it's not like the whole backrow was bad

Can joke about it but it was his big chance in front of selectors and he fluffed his lines, and that'll matter to them

There should be a few changes for the 6n squad IMO, hopefully SB thinks the same.
Yeah like you can only represent this country if you don't wear sketchers boots. These are finely tuned players in their athletic peak, they aren't 70 year olds playing walking football.

I wouldn't start him just yet.
Nah i wouldnt either...i was just laughing at the press getting themselves in a frenzy over him.

Could work well with Earl though is Earl finds his form again. 2 explosive back rowers...

Ted Hill wont be in the 6n squad, Chessum..will he be fit? Is Coles focusing solely on lock now rather than lock / 6?

Theres room for some maneuvering in the back row.

Tight head will be interesting...Stuart starts (for the moment) then Fordjour v Fasogabon v Heyes for the other 2 spots.

Didn't see it. Was he bad or just quiet?

Agree that won't have helped, but it would also be stupid to put too much weight on it. Totally scratch team and he's stacking up a decent body of work both in France and now with Sarries….against, I would hazard a guess, better opposition than Aus A.

Stuart and Heyes for the match day squads for me. In form with a bit of experience.

Given AOF got a call up in the autumn I assume he's next cab off the rank, but 6N stuff (bar Wal) is a very different proposition to Jap.
