Good news is that Borthwick seems to be working hard with communicating to the clubs what he is wanting at least though
Definitely some bridges to be built but the fundamental disconnect remains. Club coaches, rightly, will condition their players to the game they want to play.

Times article goes on that Borthwick wanted to sort out the set piece (partly done) and generate quick ruck ball to attack with pace. Goes on to say that we couldn't sustain the pace and lost the final quarter in 4 of the 5 6N games.

Well, irrespective of how Saracens have gone, Faz isn't really the 10 for that kind of plan.

As for the last quarter who asked a 32 year old hooker to play virtually every minute, who only gave Lawrence 4 mins v Sco, Smith 8 mins v Ita, who gave the whole bench a mere 86 mins v Wal and 102 v Ire when we were a man down?

And was conditioning the fundamental reason we got hammered by France?

Borthwick has already blamed Jones for inheriting a mess, now he's having a pop at the conditioning and by extension the club v country thing. Kernels of truth in both, but he hasn't made the best of the hand he was dealt either.

Not convinced many clubs do the whole S and C that different. Don't most top S and C coaches follow current best practice etc with programmes tailored to individuals and performance. The Ireland and Welsh lads aren't doing that much different surely.

I really do think a lot of our players need more mass. Just look at other counties players and then look at ours. Not all players though but across the board we need more mass!

To be fair it's one of the falcons fan's biggest gripes. Irrespective of finance and not being able to buy top players...we believe we are generally not as fit as we should be.

I also think the whole throw it around rugby isn't one that transfers well to the international game...or even the European Cup games.

Any chance you can post more of the Times article? I dont want to sign up just to read one piece but it does sound interesting.

Aye, great work by the RFU to recruit our defence coach for the national te....oh, he's gone to our biggest rival?
Ok

Last time round we named an extended training squad start of July then the whittled down squad start of August - presumably that's the roadmap for this too

Ahhhh I see. Thought this date was going to be when the extended squad was announced; not the 33-man. That makes a lot more sense.

They just mentioned on the commentary for the sale game there's a training squad being announced on Monday

RWC coaching team finalised.

Harrison as scrum

Roques as contact / skills

Wiggles will be attack and kicking strategy

All a bit underwhelming.
