England 2021/22

With more players getting into coaching and more players kids getting into playing that could be a slippery slope in the future!

I think I'm in agreement on Farrell Sr and Farrell Jr being in the same setup - whilst I don't think Faz Sr. would go straight up nepotism, he'll always have a bias, subconscious or otherwise.
But then if we're waiting until Owen has retired that's probably going to be another RWC cycle away - though I don't think Farrell will leave Ireland after this RWC so won't be on the cards anyway

I disagree, he could easily become a premiership regular, in which case, his father shouldn't be coaching England.

And, of course, he could just bloom with game time and be better than you or I anticipate; and be an actual contender, aged 20, we just don't know.
Exactly, so we don't know. We also don't know if anyone has a 5 year old who is the next Dan Carter. It's a weird reason to exclude someone

In principle this is a situation you'd rather avoid and like you I suspect it won't arise. But conflicts of interest happen all the time in other workplaces and can be managed.

If it did happen, Snr might have a bias but equally may also be more demanding to avoid accusations of bias. See Clough B & N, a school to which I suspect Snr might subscribe.

Thing is at least it might get results. However Jones motivates the players seems to have zero impact and leaves some needing therapy, both physical and emotional

Given that Eddie Jones is coaching in Japan right now and presumably not watching premiership rugby does that mean the performances of prospective England players at the moment are irrelevant?

You say that like he cares about premiership performances when he's in England.

That was my first thought, haha

Gotta imagine he's watching all the games digitally, and his assistant coaches are going to them so I don't think it matters all that much

I'd be curious to know if the coaches from any of the other 6 nations sides that mostly beat us have their coaches off coaching another team or are they solely focussed on their country?

are they solely focussed on their country
Doubt that's the case for any national coach, tbf

When Shaun Edwards was interviewed on BT (can't remember if it was this thread I posted it on) he said there's a ton of downtime as an international coach, and that's actually why he turned down an England role when offered it while he was at Wasps

Tbh all on all I think most coaches would benefit from going out with of the England bubble and doing different things to challenge themselves

Raffi properly tore his hamstring vs Bristol, bad surgery today and not due back until mid-to-late preseason :(

Randall, Mitchell, Youngs for the summer then?
Or just Randall, Youngs?
