England 2021/22

I went to the Sarries game last week, he looked pretty decent.

Being realistic, it is likely he'll come straight back in. While he might not have made any difference in the 6N we didn't do much to show that we'd be better without him either. If he does come back, my wish list is that it's at 12, that Smith is allowed to call the shots and that it's not as captain.
So back in at 10 and captain it is then.

Kinda annoyed at how Ford has completely dropped off the radar. I wouldn't say for England his form ever really dipped below Farrell's and his club form has been very good this season (and was decent last season but Tigers as a whole were awful). Whilst Farrell somehow got given the "iceman" ********, Ford somehow got lumbered with being a defensive liability and someone who couldn't run a game without Farrell holding his hand and acting as a safety net. It's ridiculous, I would have Ford at 10 playing his natural game (not the one Jones shoe-horned him into) over Farrell at 10 doing the same any day.

After seeing how poorly utilised Smith has been, by EJ, I'm not that are who's at 10 anymore we're gonna play the exact same

Unironically wouldn't mind a look at Smith/Farrell/Marchant it Smith/Farrell/Tuilagi though

Farrell is very good at 'following plans'.
At Sarries he has Goode and Malins to do the thinking, he just executes very well.
Think he might be good with Smith, as Smith can 'see' the game and Farrell will be able to execute them to a high level.
Just need some power from the wings and involve Steward more as crash ball option and it might start to work.

A back row of Willis, Curry and Dombrandt has a nice balance.
Mitchell has to be SH with Quirke now injured.

Hopefully … the Arundell situation worries me. No doubt the vultures are promising a RWC spot. He could be a bolter for England, but it certainly won't be as clear cut as it might be with Scotland or Wales.

Being bullish, my approach would be 'do you want to go to the 2023 RWC or do you want a chance to win the 2027 RWC?'. If it's the latter, don't pick Scotland or Wales.

He's 19 with what, 2 league starts? He shouldn't be having to make any international decisions for some time.

If his head does get turned over the next couple of years by one of the others then he obviously doesn't want the rose badly enough and good luck to him. The talent conveyor belt will keep churning out talented kids.

We might not be the best team in the world but we should avoid over promising or fast tracking to spite others.

Crazy thing is he wasn't that impressive in the U20's
He's basically very fast.

London Irish have some interesting calls to make with Parton, Loader and OHC

I wanna see what his defence looks like at this level before getting too excited, tbh
Remember him looking a bit like a glass cannon in the u20s games

I still rate Parton very highly - going to to take some doing (or Haley remembering he's still Mikey from the block) to challenge Steward, though

Malins playing really well at Saracens, again - hope he stays at 15

Exactly. That's the point I was trying to make.

Scotland or Wales will definitely dangle the carrot of a potential RWC place next year and well before he's ready.

My pitch was basically saying, "we might not promise you a cap right away and we certainly won't pencil you in to our RWC squad for 2023, but if you stick with England and you're good enough, you'll have a far better chance of winning a RWC in 2027". Make more sense now?

Can see Arundell moving to the wing tbh.
Parton is too good a allrounder to just bench and if he does he would fit in at so many clubs.

Loader injury porblems might be somewhat a problem for him.
