Aviva Premiership Round 1

I was bleating on about it loads last season
Especially when they made full matches available to non-paying members!

We got absolutely humiliated by Chiefs. 43 - 6.
Not even a consolation try at the end.

Only good thing was our scrum (for the most part) performed well.

Exeter becoming a bit of a bogey side for Sale?

Seem to remember two losses last season for the Sharks including a thrashing and also Tasesa Lavea's only contribution to the club.

Have Sale beaten Exeter at all since the Chiefs were promoted?

I assume they didn't have much success against them in that Mike Brewer year either.

Five straight losses so far... (think we lost to them once or twice in preseason before they were promoted as well...)

Glos and Saints fans alike were in agreement yesterday we're notkeen on the concept of Wasps becoming a good side again, they were scary (albe it wonderful to watch) in their pomp.

Also think the score flattered Glos yesterday. The Pisi brothers were awesome in combination iland it was only really PDJ who let the side sldown. Glos' linekut was also about as straight as LN7.

Were there any TMO calls yesterday that took play back to the last breakdown? If so, how did it (they) work out?

Yeah, I saw a couple.
One was a for a forward pass back at halfway (which was actually forward) which stopped a try being awarded a few passes later, the other was for a forward offload a couple of passes before a try being scored, but the pass was backwards.

I didn't see it but I think Chris Ashton got a yellow card from a TMO decision (shoulder barge on a player which the ref didn't see) - though as I said I didn't see that part of the game, just going off of something the commentators mentioned later on.

The 5 seconds at the breakdown rule went out the window completely.

The Not Not Nots aren't looking too shabby.
Tigers in control, but Welsh have a try on the board and aren't looking out of their depth.

Edit: and another Welsh try right on halftime. Not bad at all!

Thanks; could be some interesting calls as the season progresses.

To be fair Welsh game didnt go as bad I was expecting, BBC state it was a heavy defeat but tbh 38-13 (17-13 , HT) isnt really a bad defeat for a team just promoted up against last years finalists, if anything it was a expected loss and I personally its good that Welsh nabbed a few try's. Also is there a highlights show like Scrum V for the prem on standard TV (iirc ITV used to do something but cant remember times / days)

ITV4 at 8PM tonight, and then repeated at weird times throughout the week (like 1am and the such).

Thanks alot, will aim to remember, I usually end up catching the 3am show on ITV1 when its on.

TRF was right in what he posted..............have to say that, never thought I would say this EVER, I agree with the numpty Healey and think that this new rule is crass and stupid and will lead to more and more disrespect to referees and the great game becoming more like "soccer" as players heckle and lambast the ref to look at something that happened five minutes and 95 phases previous to a try being scored............and the yellow card was complete over reaction!!

What a fabulous game for the non committed that saw Wasps overtaken by Quins only to be followed by the rubbish that are the Turks!! Note that the Quins game was played in front of a very sparse crowd that was swollen when the, presumably and allegedly, free loaders came in to support the Turks.

I thought Welsh showed reasons to believe that they may well stay up and must applaud the team they have put together despite the old farts (and Andrew) that delayed their eventual promotion.

I take it Treviranus (henceforth knows as Trevor's Anus) will be cited for that late, no shoulder hit on that old fogie Hodgson?

That would be the second time Trevor's Anus would be banned for a late shoulder hit on a player whilst with London Irish.

London Irish seem to have an uncanny knack of signing Pacific Islander back rowers who regularly get banned for these reckless tackles, George Stowers, Chris Hala'ufia and now Trevor's Anus all were/are getting constantly banned for them.

Irish have a tendancy for aggressive little wotsits full-stop. Delon Armitage springs instantly to mind.

Finally got around to watching Wasps/Quins (late to the party, I know!). That was one hellava match! I almost gave up watching at 40-13, thought it was going to be a boring blowout. Glad I stuck with it - turned out to be spectacular!
