Ashes Cricket 2009

the news of no lag is the best news of the lot - can u tell where they were from?

radman - normal is sweet after a few goes, but u still need to block every now and again - you pick it up.

i have read in reviews that batting in 20/20 is totally different to TESTS on the same difficulty
they reckon its easier in 20/20 and ODI's to time the ball and hit 4's n 6's than it is in TESTS, in order to keep realistic run rates with each form of the game

the actual simulation approach to this game is what has rejuvenated the love for console cricket - earning wickets and centuries feel earned for once

still awaiting on x360

can u pick a difficulty online? - what are our options?[/b]

Pretty average online options to be honest, not sure if you can play easy on there though. Wouldn't want to either. Still no lag is great! Got mates over here right now and we're fairly experienced console cricketers. We're hitting 50 off 5 overs on that level fairly easily (must be the shorter game as AK said) and are at about 60% catch strike rate, which is pretty good from what I've heard.

Radman, my mate is going at about 9.30pm. Could play ya at about 9.45pm?

There are stat leaderboards online, they include - Leading Wicket Taker, Most Runs Scored, Batting Average, Batting Strike Rate, Bowling Economy. It seems only ODI and 20 over a side games has anyone on it so far.

Me thinks tests will take too long online, 20/20 matches are stretching it for me, 10 over games feel about right.

As far as options there are ranked and unranked games, create match, friend options for invites etc, no choice of difficulty though it does seem like it is on normal.

Sweet as, just message me when you are ready.

good to hear the online is smooth because that is where this game has to be good for it to survive long term especially on the consoles. a test online would be freaking hardcore probably have to play it over a full weekend like starting on a friday night. tests I think will be limited to single player or when you have mates around for a few days so you don't have to worry about the connection dying or the other person having to go somewhere or sleep in the middle of a game. also sounds like normal is the way to go for difficulty to become a pro at this so will have to up that in my pc demo games that I have been playing. 10 overs seems like it would be about the right spot for multiplayer online from what I have been playing on single player in the pc demo anyway. thanks for all the posts on the full game guys most of us have to wait until about this time next week to play it on the 360 and pc.

Played Radman and it was only 5 overs, but no lag. Only one ball and that was where I think Amy was playing an online game and our boarder Robin was in his room online too. So very impressive resistance to lag!

yeah lag would just kill this game of having any hope to survive long term as I said so it's very good news that so far it seems silky smooth online.

Amy just played Radman and he beat her fairly soundly, but she's learned a lot from the experience. Radmans bowling looks to be improving...... which could be a real worry for me. Need some other PS3 players, a TRF tourney would kick ass.

With Amy I just tried things, mixed up deliveries and positioning which I didn't do when I played you. It worked well for the most part, but I don't think I'd get away with much to you. Batting is good and bad, still lots to work on.

Stoked that online is so good though, it's like playing on the same console it's that good. As mentioned Online will keep this alive, offline is for open wicket practice sessions.

Yeah, she needs some training up with this one I reckon. Give her a couple of days and she'll be taking more of those catches and her shot selection and timing will be better. I wonder if it has voice chat? Couldn't find my headset.

I'm absolutely loving this game, but still plenty of more depth to learn yet. Batting for me has been explored a lot further than bowling. I need to find more ways to put the pressure on I think. I can see that you have a lot more to deliver yet and thats why I'm being wary for now.

Yeah man, really like it as well. I just need to keep on practicing my batting timing and improving my bowling positioning, changing things up better. I think both disciplines have quite a bit of depth to them and you can become quite skillfull with both, espescially when playing against online opponents.

Will be gettin this first thing in the morning when it's released here. Can't wait now

I think the initial feeling from those who hear all the good feedback will be disappointment, as the game isn't perfect and has elements which aren't as polished as they could be. These are really a collection of very minor points. If people are listening to the praise and loading up the game for the first time with a feeling of "Oh boy, oh boy, I'm about to have my socks blown off, this is so good!", then be ready for a little let down.

Take a measured response and sit down and go, "Okay, this is supposed to be a worthwhile cricket game. Let's just give it a couple of hours and make up my mind then", and I think you'll be fairly impressed. It's really a wonderful first step (as far as a rebuilt game design goes) down the road of next-gen cricket. It does need to be bought though, or it may go down the long dark tunnel of the rugby games.

i cant look at this game from a technical angle - i am a bias cricket tragic
I love cricket, I loved blic07, rpic05, and warnies

This has blown my expectations, and if there is no lag, it wont leave my machine until COD MW2

I mean heck….i have played the demo more than I played tigerwoods and fight night already
may get ashes on ps3, then take it back when the xbox version comes out

ps3 version came out yesterday - xbox is next week (but the xbox stock is here, just not allowed to release as sony paid a little extra for 7 days exclusivity)

i will go into EB or GAME ask for xbox version "sorry cant give till next week" he will say

then i will say - then how does it sound if i get the ps3 version now, and in 6 days swap it for the xbox version under your 7 day return policy, then your stuck with a 2nd hand copy of ashes for ps3 - so give me the xbox version now?

It IS a ***le I am willing to fork out for multiple plats….i am a bit skimp, but I heard the banks have cut overdraft fees â€" perfect timing really, I’ll be ok for a week

looks like there are definitely people in aus buying the ps3 version going by dvd crave anyway. they had 50+ copies as being in stock yesterday and now its down to 20+.

dude gameswarehouse.com.au sold out yesterday - its selling like water in the desert

Still unbeaten online. Had 6 games now. Three were 5 overs, two were 10 overs, and one 20/20. Mixing things up well tends to stuff people up and my catchings getting better. Took 6 out of 7 in the last game. This game is simply, awesome.

i am getting it on ps3 this arvo

i dont care anymore, i need this ball 4 ball with the real life stuff

OK just got it and doin the Legends tutorial bit. Its been a while since I played a Brian Lara game but will see if I can get back in to the swing ;)

Will be ready for some onlineage then (add me Ruff4548)

Bought this on PS3 as well and now face an agonizing wait until I get to go back to my flat to play it. Mothers and their birthdays, so inconsiderate.

Surely if there is a market for a cricket game ***led Ashes 2009, then there is for a new rugby game?
