Ashes Cricket 2009

one would hope they played at least a few games between codies in the uk and transmission down in aus to iron out the online multiplayer. I wouldn't be surprised if retail outlets have stock already I got a mate over in canada that works in a wharehouse packaging games and he keeps telling me when they get suff in and how it has a certain sticker date of when they are meant to sell it.

Really fun demo, not had much on so have played it quite a bit over the last couple of days. The batting seems easy enough, even on hard, but when i'm bowling im not really sure when im meant to release the ball. Is it where the dark green meets the light green on the gauge going up the screen? I've only bowled someone once, the rest of the wickets are from run-outs/catches. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone know which site out of Amazon UK and Play.com is the most reliable for pre-orders? They seem to be the cheapest sites (17.99) and i want to get in on the release date or as close to it as possible.

Cheers

hurry up CA[/b]

What can I say, but bloody good! This is the best of all the codemasters games, but theres so many things still to be improved. If people don't support this ***le, they simply do no deserve a cricket game on the new consoles.

The AI is the best ever and I'm not noticing many silly run-outs and I'm only playing 10 overs so far. They'll need the odd tweak here and there to get everything perfect, but so far I'd have to be nit picking to find anything wrong with this game.

I edited the New Zealand squad and theres only a certain number of faces and most of them are comically cartoonish to use, but put in the nearest matches I could find. I'm not about to grumble about that. Oh yeah when editing first names you can't put in a name as long as 7 characters, 6 is the limit (on PS3 at least). I tried to put in Brendon McCullum, but just put in his initials in the end. That'll be a minor annoyance to some.

The demo doesn't do it justice at all and maybe this is great justification for putting out a fractionally earlier build to the final as a demo, then people can be even more impressed.

Man, its so hard not to pick this up today for ps3, but gotto hold out for x360

Maybe I can get the ps3 version and take it back in 7 days and swap for X360 version

Maybe tomorrow, I dunno how I cant play Ashes on my monitor, and have the TV right next to it, with the real life series…I could go ball for ball lol

well well well, i am tempted to go and get this game now. Even though I am on holiday on saturday for two weeks. geez. if i go home and pack.... buy the game on the way home. I could almost get away with playing a few hours tonight.

but ill wait and get it on the monday i get back. I can hold off for that long. I think.

Damn I wish it hadnt come out already, damn.

good stuff man. there were a few issues I had in the pc demo playing it with the extender but it seems like the full thing is better so maybe some of my little issues with the ai and such are indeed fixed in the full game. the problem with demos on console is like the full version games I believe they have to go through certification testing which can take a few weeks so I think in this case codies probably allowed maybe a month for both to go through testing and the demo obviously seems to have been the first version that went through and got approved so it's from an older build compared to the full version. and one more thing I found my joystick so been thrashing the pc demo playing 10 over games with the extender and enjoying the game much more now will definitely be buying this next week which I hope a lot of people here do so we can see more of these games.

This could be the first ever case of a game being worth a copy of each format?

SHUT UP I AM A CRICKET TRAGIC I'LL GET IT ON THE WII ALSO, AND I DONT HAVE ONE
:p[/b]

Well imagine being able to play your 360 mates aaaaand your ps3 ones then aye?

I do on the other hand do have a wii so I will seriously consider buying a copy to go with my pc one if I can find some reviews for it. the wii version also for some reason has been delayed until possibly november for aus/nz so will have to import from the uk or find somewhere in aus/nz that will import uk copies.

Just played an aussie in a 20/20. I sure hope it wasn't AK47, because I blew him away. He batted first and was on 68/1 after 4 overs. I thought I was in for a hiding. Then I got used to the game a bit and bowled him out for 119 in the 17th over. I then went in and plundered the runs in 13 overs and had 7 wickets to spare. Martin Guptill scored me a handy 55. Online was pretty smooth no problems at all!

Just played through the Tutorials and had a game on easy in which I struggled to bowl the opposition out. Had a few run outs go my way but struggled with catching but got a few. I got in to bat and smashed 130 in 4.5 overs and thought I was doing pretty good then stuck the difficulty on normal for a couple games, bowled first and struggled to get wickets.
Then batted and couldn't find my timing at all, kept edging out and giving up dolly catches and couldn't hit the spinners.

Not really happy about the way they went about making batting more difficult, at the moment I just feel more comfortable with how it plays on easy setting. Hope it is set to easy online.

Got a lot of work to do to get good at this which I guess is good as far as lastability goes.

A few issues I had were batsmen hitting a well timed shot back to and through the bowler hard in the air and not triggering a caught and bowled chance, No balls being called to short deliveries the batsman comfortably hit and batsmen being stumped when they naturally leave a ball from a spinner.

Haven't played online yet but will try it tonight and maybe get a spanking from Craig.

I think Online might be on normal, Radman. Found the best thing to improve the skills was actually the tutorials, usually a dead wood concept and worth skipping in many games, these make for a good transition from easy to normal.

Once you figure out the normal level, I can't say fot sure that there'll be a spanking, lol. When we do is 10 over suitable for ya? Found 20/20 a touch too long for an online bit of fun just yet.

Yeah 10 overs is sweet...you'll probably only need 5 at me. lol.

What time is good for you?.

Just had my first online game against an Aussie without any trace of lag, awesome!.

Was a 10 over a side game, bowled him out for 38, he had lots of silly runouts, took me till the 9th over to finish him off.:(

the news of no lag is the best news of the lot - can u tell where they were from?

radman - normal is sweet after a few goes, but u still need to block every now and again - you pick it up.

i have read in reviews that batting in 20/20 is totally different to TESTS on the same difficulty
they reckon its easier in 20/20 and ODI's to time the ball and hit 4's n 6's than it is in TESTS, in order to keep realistic run rates with each form of the game

the actual simulation approach to this game is what has rejuvenated the love for console cricket - earning wickets and centuries feel earned for once

still awaiting on x360

can u pick a difficulty online? - what are our options?
