Ashes Cricket 2009

Yeh I read it in Gamespot on a 13th Aug release but saying that just checked Game website and its still advertises 7th Aug so fingers crossed.

Downloaded the demo for this the other day,
I'm not normally a fan of cricket games/cricket itself, if i'm being honest, but i really enjoyed the demo, and am seriously considering buying the game

wow what a game â€" all this on NORMAL 50 over from the PC Demo
i got the pc demo and the extender and got rolled for 120 chasing 209 on normal - but in this match 1 was playing stupid shots using the loft.
the next match i decided to tone it down
2/28 - shocking start, edged to slips and caught at covers - playing attacking ground strokes, but my timing was out, and these popped up for catches â€" u can be caught hitting attacking ground strokes if your timing is out you can pop one up, or top/leading edges
massive partnership between katich n clarke (80 odd), put me back in the match, before a stupid run out sent clarke back at 3-110,
continued to pluck away hitting at 4-5 per over, (katich posted 78 off 84 balls) playing proper cricket, nothing stupid, hitting the loose balls, and defending anything on the off stump corridoor
North comes in and hits 120 off 115 balls â€" He was my quickest run scorer that posted a total, anyone else trying to score quick got out before they got to 30
All out for 343 off 50 overs, and defended well bowling them out for 230.

This game is seriously epic, the feeling you have when you recover an innings after loosing early wickets is second to none â€" BEST CRICKET GAME EVER

These are the dates I have

AU/NZ PS3 - 6th August
UK - All consoles - 7th August
AU/NZ 360/PC/Wii - 13th August

So that's a big thumbs up for the gameplay huh?.

Seems like the majority reckon it's gonna be pretty good.

Can't wait to give it a crack.

No problem.

Have you been playing the demo yet and what are your initial thoughts?.

A bit dull but does anyone know the list of bat / equipment manufacturers in the game ?

No mention of that yet, everyone is too concerned with the AI gameplay. Have to wait till release.

I can't tell you them but it's extensive and you won't be disappointed.

Fairly impressed from what I've seen so far.I think it'll be the best there ever was for cricket after a couple of patches to a few things which seem to be bugging people, high number of run-outs and low number of caught behinds being a couple of minor annoyances.

This is a game that has to be bought in large numbers so that this can become a franchise again.

CA - u got the extender? are you using the demo extender for pc?

The AI run-outs are a concern - its weird.....1 time i caught 9 catches (none dropped :p), and 1 run-out...another time i got 7 run-outs

This game should really come into it's own in multiplayer where the AI isn't really going to be a problem. Thats where I'll spend 90% of my time anyhow. Still to be fair to the developers this is the hardest game to simulate due to the number of variables. Once this has been out a while I'm pretty confident this will be supported by a couple of patches.

Hopefully gameplay sliders that might effect the odds of a run-out or number of caught behinds. The run-out one could be done by saying that the number of run-out's thus far in a game impacts the intelligence of the remaining batsmen. Then in close situations they'll run a little bit harder and faster towards the crease, saving them from run-outs. Although that last bit would tire them gradually bringing on a run-out again. Maybe something like that?

I’m getting mail (internet chatter) that retail have stock, in both anzac and pom regions.

People are leading me to believe we can pick up x360 and ps3 versions on Thursday (even though in Australia its been touted out 1 week early to sony)..

I am being optimistic in that the AI run-outs are due to the AI thinking it has 10 wickets in hand and 3 overs to spare â€" So they take risks, and this includes erratic running…

A run-out slider would be awesome, but I agree, like all games this will turn to online multiplayer, for longevity, and as such the AI wont be an issue.

Just hope there is no lag â€" Especially during the delivery it can and will kill any aspirations they had, it needs to be responsive and perfect, because timing is such an important thing for catching, bowling and fielding â€" CRICKET IS A SPORT OF TIMING AND INCHES
